hair

Question Posted Wednesday November 30 2005, 8:57 pm

well see I have this problem. I used to pull my hair out of my head. Please, don't ask why, it was just a habit. Well eventually, I pulled out so much hair that it looked like I had a receading hairline. I had my hairdresser cut bangs so I could cover the hairline, and I have been waiting for the hair to grow back, but it's taking alot longer than I thought it would have. But, I still keep pulling out my hair and it's a thing I do when I'm bored. So my questions are, how long does hair usually take to grow back? and how can I stop this habit of pulling out my hair?

First of all, it really depends on the person for how long it takes for hair to grow back. If you are so desprate there are certain pills you can take (found at vitamin stores) that can help your hair grow back longer and faster. Try to pay attention to when you are pulling your hair so you can stop yourself...no offense, its kinda a gross/weird habit. Do your best to stop...you can do it if you really try. Also maybe you could do something else to distract you when your bored...maybe one of those stress balls for example. Hope this helped you!!!

well first off, you should know that hair (especially on girls) takes a long time to grow. So during the time your waiting for it to grow back, if you get a temptation to tug at it again, go buy a bug furry stuffed animal. You can take out urges on it, pull its hair out, instead of yours. I your ever out and need something to keep from pulling out hair, keep some things in your pcoket that you can fiddle with (example: 15 puzzle), anything that will get your mind off of it for a while. once your mind is off of it for a while, it will stay out. (and for your question about how long it takes to grow in, you should expect 2 or so inches within about three weeks).

I used to have some weird habits too. To quit one, sometimes you must start another. Find something to fiddle with when you get bored or when you feel the urge to pull out your hair (examples - nail file, magnets, marbles, anything that will keep you busy). Hair sometimes takes a while to grow back. Especially when it is pulled or ripped out. So it might be a few weeks until you notice hair growth.

I hope I helped

You should probably find something constructive to do with your hands, even if it's just something as simple as playing with a stress-ball when you get the urge to pull hair. I've heard of this problem before, and I'm not sure what the exact name of the disorder is, but you can probably find information on the internet about other people who have the same problem, to see how they deal with it.
