Math Homework..

Question Posted Wednesday November 30 2005, 6:56 pm

I've been absent from school for a few days and I have to make up a homework assignment. Problem is, I have NO idea how to do it and the teacher will not help me. I am asking for the work and answers to these problems. I will rate high, thanks!

The area of a right triangle is 44m(squared). Find the lengths of its legs if one of the legs is 3 meters longer than the other one.

The hypotenuse of a right traingle is 25 meters long. The length of one leg is 10 meters less than twice the other. Find the length of each leg.

A projectile is launched upward from ground level with an initial speed of 98 m/s. How high will it go? When will it return to the ground?

A rocket is moving vertically upward with speed 245 m/s when its fuel runs out. How much farther will it travel upward before starting to fall back to the ground?

When .5 cm was planed off each of the six faces of a wooden cube, its volume decreased by 169 cm (cubed). Find its new volume.

A rectangular corner lot, originally twice as long as it was wide, lost a 2 meter strip along two adjacent sides due to street widening. Its new area is 684 m(squared). Find its new dimensions.

I find it hard to believe that your teacher will not help you if you have been absent and attentive when present.

Maybe you didnt ask in the right way.

But It the teachers job to help you , and they cant turn you down. Ask her again, then if she still refuses, get your parents involved to help you talk to her, or go to the administration.

But you need to learn to do these problems before you are tested.

EDIT- I helped the best I could, I dont know the answers, I tried to help you by telling you you can go to the administration and complain on your teacher not helping you since thats their job, and then I just warned you to learn to do them before a test so you dont fail... see all your best intrests in mind

But who knows, maybe youre just rude

use c= the square root of a squared plus b squared. no calculator at hand but...

25=(2x-10) + x

then solve for x

i hope that helps :S

Use common sense and basic math to solve these.

If you need to see it on paper, draw a triangle. Label the hypotenuse and other sides.

Then, write an equation to solve the problem.

Use the Pythagorean Theorem, which is:

"The sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs (a and b) of a right triangle is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse (c)."

Or simply,

a squared + b squared = c squared.

I miss HTML.

Anyway, don't be lazy; do your own homework. Asking for the work and answers might help you right now, but when you have no idea how to do it on a test you're going to regret it.

Get another math teacher at your school to explain it to you, if anything. That way you'll understand it better and you'll be able to do your own homework.

ok the formula is: a(squared)+b(squared)=c(squared)
(s will equal squared cuz in too lazy to typ eot all out)

1)so do this a(s)+(a+3)(s)=44
2a+3=44
2a+3+ -3+44-3
2a=41
2a (times) one half =41 times one half
a=20.5
leg a=20.5
leg b=23.5
and the hypotinuse is 44 ( u have to unsquare these still but i solved it for you so it shoulkdnt be a problem)

2)a+(2a-10)=25
* i am soooo sorry but i have to go if i get time tonigt i will answer the rest but now you at least have the basic idea rite? and by the way next time i would ask a friend for help because you never know whyt some people might give you for answers ( o ya and im not quite sure is #1 is correct ) once again i am sorry and good bye
