how do i make an icon?

Go into photoshop, if you do not have photoshop, steal photoshop.
Make a new image, make it 50 px. by 50 px.
Put whatever crap you want on there
save at as a .gif

For animated icons (animated GIF's), do the same thing above and make a couple pictures or text or whatever you want, then open Easy GIF Animator (If you don't have it, steal it) and import all your pictures into there. Then set the rate and all that good stuff and export it as a gif. Go back into AIM and make it your icon!
