Depending on how you do it, it can get more or less curly/wavy.

Use moose put it in your hand or on your brush and brush it through one side of your hair.
Then from the bottom, grab your hair in your fist and scrunch it upwards grabbing more hair on the way.

Just scrunch away.
You don't usually have to hold it there but if it isn't working try holding it a bit longer or use a stronger moose.

There isn't a specific amount of time it takes you to do it. It depends on how wavy you want it, the texture and length of your hair and how slow you are infront of a mirror.

If you want your hair really curly, scrunch it up more tightly. It might work better if you do it to your hair while it's wet, or if you use gel or some kind of styling product. How well it works will depend on what kind of hair you have. If your hair is naturally really straight, the curls won't hold very well.

For example, I have naturally straight hair, and I can twist my hair up tight and tie it in place for the whole day, and it only goes slightly wavy when I untie it, and the waves don't last long either.

it depends on how much natural curl you have && what products you sue. i know girls who can do it in 2 minutes, but since my hair is straight, i have to do it for like 20 minutes. haha.*
