Profile Pictures

I was just wondering why the profile pictures are restricted to 15Kb or less when most pictures are actually larger. I would very much like to post a picture of myself on my advice column, but find myself unable to do so due to the size (40+Kb on average). Thank you for any help you might offer.

Hi there,

This is meant to be a thumbnail size picture of you, like the writer profile picture in an on-line magazine.

You can host a picture elsewhere and link to it here if you wish, or you can take a photo and crop/edit it down to 15K if you like.
