me and this guy, his name was al and we dated at the beginning of my freshman year. and like he was really nice at first, and people were on my case because he wasn't like "the" hottest guy sayin they didnt no what i saw in him. well he was a good guy but after like a week and half he started getting possessive and a lil bit annoying. so we broke up and he was/still is mad becasue he thinks i dumped him b/c of what people said. (just some back groud info)
so like towards the end of the year al started tellin people i slept with his cousin and makin life really complicated, and then he kinda was quiet and didn't say anything. and i was like so close to start dating a guy named josh. like i really liked josh. and he told my friend he was gonna me out. i was so happy. and then that night at the dance he said he didnt want to go out and then stopped callin. and it really hurt b/c i really liked him. and i just found out from a friend that al is the reason josh just stopped calling. he told him a bunch of lies and stuff so josh thought i was this huge bitch. but its been like 4 months now so if josh liked me at all i doubt he still has the feelings. but i just dont know what to do, i dont know if i should try and open all the up again or just let him keep his distance.

Easy. If the only reason he left you was because of lies, then start going at it and tell him that Al is untrustworthy. Tell him that he lied to you when you were going out (Even if it was just once, it is a fact), and he only wanted revenge. That's why he called with those lies. It is probably best to do this over the phone, in my opinion, as you can talk to him without seeing him. I just think it'd be the best way to say it.
If it is impossible to do such, I think that you may want to try a long distance boyfriend, just because Al cannot interfere. Like try someone a town over or something. Meet people at a forum. :)
