Your cartilage is real bone it's just not as hard. Yes it's gonna hurt for a while. Try taking some Tylenol or Motrin pain relievers and use some ice. Don't touch it or remove the earring it'll close up real fast.

I heard it's normal to hurt a few days after but I dont know much about it. (although I want to get the same done to my ear).. but getting your cartildge pierced I heard is much more sensetive then getting your earlobes pierced.

Since its not infected, I'm sure its normal. All you can really do is use the spray or some rubbing alcohol, make sure you clean the earring daily and if it gets infected make sure you tell someone. (parent, doctor, etc.)

Good Luck.
hope I helped =)

ok well when i got mine done it didn't swell.... what i was told was to take the earing out if swelling does happen and if you don't want to than you should go back to the place where you got it done and ask them.
~I hope this answers your question~
ps. hmmm mine didn't hurt at all after about 2 days well only when i slept on it but thats all i really do think you should go back to where you got it pierced.

O Yes this pain is going to be there i while.. maybe a few months.. everyobdy ive known and including myself had trouble sleeping on that side of the face and using the phone.. just keep it cleaned turn the earring a few times a day.. and also even tho they say you can change it in 12 weeks id suggest just keeping it in a bit longer.. ♥
