Question Posted Tuesday July 26 2005, 5:45 pm

Hi. I am 14, and overweight. I am really good at sports, and, i feel like, people think that i'm not good because i'm overweight. This goes along with running in front of people.... it just makes me feel awkward when i have to run or in front of people..... I dont know what to do.

ok heres the thing..im overweight too and i guess you can say im good at softball and ok at tennis..

point is..overweight people can be good at sports too! so dont get those thoughts in your head that people dont think your good. You know what? even if they tell you straight out they dont think your good..who cares? get your revenge by beating them (if they are your opponent) or making them look bad in practice if they are on your team.
(like if bball is your thing, for example, knock her down on the court and make her look bad)

but i think your just letting those thoughts get to you..i dont think thats the case at all. i mean i bet you know the feeling when people are cheering for you..your teammates..the crowd..its awesome right? your teammates dont sit there saying "shes fat so yeah she cant be good at basketball even though she put up 15 points for us" no of course not! they are screaming their lungs out for you because your good!

so try and get that confidence up...with more confidence..you will be an even better athlete. keep kickin ass and dont worry what others think..you kick ass whether your underweight, overweight,or medium sized..keep playing sports and get the confidence up :)

i hope i helped
