incapacity benefit and council tax Do you have to pay council tax if you rent a house and recieve incapacity benefit? i am unable to work and on long term incapacity benefit and want to rent a house but dont know if i have to pay council tax too.

You will probably find that you will get a rebate discount on your Council Tax, this would be depending on a few factors,such as who is living with you in the house,the income of the house,and the benifits that are paid to those living in the house. You can call your local council office and they will send you a form to fill in and send back for review.

i didnt even have to pay my rent when i was on incapacity benifit so your entiteled to housing benifit and council tax benifit.The trouble is u haven't mentioned whether your house is concil or privte rent so i couln't tell you how much benifit your entiteled to. ]
