Cotton Eye Joe or whatever...

Ok, so at my Bat-Mitzvah, we did a song called the Cotton Eye Joe. I have the music, but I want to know the dance. I remember it as 3 steps right, 3 stteps left, then knee knee knee clap clap clap, then u high 5ed but missed so it went miss miss and then like a freak dance thing. Is this the correct dance? Did I leave a major part out?? Help!
