cold sore...?

Question Posted Tuesday June 28 2005, 4:05 pm

Okay, so I'm pretty much full Italian which means I'm hairy. It comes in later on, don't worry.

Last night I waxed my upper lip (I am a girl. Meaning I totally own a vagina.) Now, I have like a bump on one side of my upper lip. Is this from waxing or is it a cold sore?

Please help?

most likely from waxing you may have just irritated the skin, but if you kissed someone with a cold sore then that could be it

I know just what you are talking back. Sometimes when I wax my eyebrows i get a little bump right above. I did some research and it just means that since your lip hair is ripped off very quickly it can make the skin irritated and cause a bump.

As one who has oral HSV type 1 (cold sores), it could be either.

I often get cold sores when I have a cut or something, and then it will heal and a cold sore will develope. If you've had cold sores before, it could be. If you've never had them, it's most likely just from the waxing.

If they're there for a couple of days, or if they erupt (start to bleed on their own after they swell significantly), it's quite likely that they are.

Vit C, echinacea (ek-i-nay-shuh), zinc, and other suppliments are good for dealing with cold sores. I don't believe Zinc is water soluble, so don't take more than the instructions say to take. C, however, is water soluble, and you can take 5,000%+ of your daily requirement without trouble.
