controlling my life

Question Posted Monday June 20 2005, 12:42 am

Hi. I've been struggling with anorexia since freshman year of high school. I am now entering freshman year of college. I'm supposed to be "recovered" or so they say. I don't want to recover but I don't want anorexia to take total control of my life. If I lose weight during the summer my parents will not trust me to go to college and that would just suck. But I really don't want to arrive at college all fat and stuff. So once I get to college I'm going to start restricting my intake and exercising alot. The problem is I don't want my parents to nag at me and be over protective about it. I don't know whether I want to keep my weight up and have my parents be happy but me hating myself...or go back to anorexia and have me be happier but my parents/friends be unhappy. What should I do?
P.s. Please don't preach to me about recovery.

Its really hard to say what to do, but I'll do my best. I will def. not preach to you about recovery. I have to be completely honest but I have sort of been in this situation. In freshman year, I didn't eat much. Friends and Family were constantly on me about eating, and I felt that it was unfair because if I ate, I thought I would get fat, and me being fat and unhappy was more important than me eating healthy and making my family happy. My suggestion is, before you go off to college eat normally, im not saying you have to 'pig out' but just eat so your parents are not worried about you. Keep up the exercise, and your body will burn a great amount of what you do eat off. Once you get to college, you can basically do whatever you want, but for the time being just eat so it doesnt appear you're restricting to your parents. My mom is kind of always suspicious about me, if I am not hungry, shes liike "DONT START STARVING YOURSELF" and to be honest, i understand, it gets annoying. I really wish I could help you better with this, but If you I.M me or email me I could probably help you out. sorry it took so long to reply.
