A lot of times an opposite gender friendship turns into more. Also, just let him see the real you and let your personality show. If he's talking to you through notes, there's a chance he has some interest in you and probably already likes you as a person and at the least, considers you interesting and would like to be friends.
When the time is right, be honest about your feelings. Good luck! I hope I was able to help, and if you need anything else, stop by my advice column. I'll try to help the best I can. [ fragileivory's advice column | Ask fragileivory A Question ]

Just write him a note in one of your classes and say you heard a rumor that he has a crush on you, See what he says. If he says he doesn't like you, then he probably doesn't. Plus, At this point he still might be hurting from his recent breakup. [ Ashley1's advice column | Ask Ashley1 A Question ]
