Every day you seem that same person walking in the hall
All the other kids tease, and makes the person feel small
Yet you want to belong so you laugh anyway
Never knowing how much pain you bestow upon them that day.
After watching the other kids trip them you finally take a stand
You walk over to them and help by giving a hand
The other kids finally see the error of their ways
And all of the tormenting stops for all the rest of its days.
After befriending this new quiet person
You realize this person isn’t just anyone
They truly are a gifted self
Who just sat there and got overlooked, like a book on a shelf
Graduation day the same friend gives a speech
They had met a point which they’d been trying to reach
You befriended a person who couldn’t do something before, gave them hope and courage and now they are so much more.
By befriending him to did something beautiful, you opened a path that this friend just began to down walk
What they couldn’t do before; he couldn’t talk
