yes this could be the reason..being that its so soon after the breakup, it still might be difficult for him or maybe hes simply jealous. I dont know the whole story with you two, but if he broke up with you for example because he didnt like something or whatever, and he learns you like someone new, he might be jealous and wondering why your moving on so quick..but he mightt no necassarily like you.
But its very possible he still likes you and its a sensitive spot for him.
