Re: My guitar is being a bitch
It's the actual shaft that's coming up out of the guitar. The humidity has changed quite a bit (going from cold and very dry to 70 degrees and stormy) over the past week. I'm using Martin strings that I just got two weeks ago, and I have the guitar tuned to EADGBE. The Ibanez site is down right now...I'll keep checking back for the link to my guitar.

shaft... ok, to clarify yet again - this problem is on the headstock of the guitar, not down on the bridge/saddle...
Which I'm guessing means that the shiney little gold shaft that the strings are wound around are pulling out of the headstock...

loosen the string, as you don't want a lot of tension on the neck while you tryto fix this.
Basically, the shaft that winds the string around it is connected directly to the tuning machine behind it - in fact, the two togeter are one unit. Look closely at the top part and see if there's a locking nut at the base of the shaft - it might be that they are coming loose. My other thought it is look at the back of the headstock at the tuning machines and see how they are attached - if they have individual screws to attach them to the headstock, make sure they are tight, but not over-tight. If there are no screws, that means the machines are also held onto the headstock by locking washers, which will be at the base of the shaft on the fact of the headstock...
If the issue is actually at the bridge/saddle down on the guitar body - those pegs can be a pain in the ass sometimes, and I have seen the holes they go into be over-drilled. Replacing those pegs are really cheap.
If all else fails, take the guitar into a store that you know services Ibanez. It is likely that your guitar is still under warranty. Usually most guitar shops are happy to do little fixes, because that makes their customers happy, who in turn come to their store to buy more stuff. ;)
Humidity will wreack havok on an acoustic - in case you weren't aware... wood gets all picky that way.. sucking up water, releasing water, and worse... warping. As the weather is doing goofy things, keep an eye on your guitar - the first few years of a guitar's life are very chaotic as the wood is still trying to reach a steady equillibrium - and environmental changes will be worse until the wood ages a bit.
I'm going to guess that some of what you're seeing with your guitar are simply because it is newer and the wood is shrinking/expanding as the weather shifts again.
I would honestly rather have hardware get loose than have the neck warp.
So, let me know if I'm still even talking about the right things or not... if only you lived down the street, I'd just look at it myself.
