well you should try telling people the truth, you stood up for him because well..you cared about him and all. they may not believe you but the rumor really isn't true! maybe you can like try talking to a counselor or someone? or like persuade your friends that the rumor is fake and have them also tell everyone that the rumor isn't true. the more people, the more likely people are going to believe them. good luck!!
