Does anyone know why the ninja turtles are names after famous renaissance artists???

at first he wanted to give them japanese names but him and his co writer (can remember his name atm) couldn't find any authentic-sounding names so they went with a renassance theme and just chose the 4 names they were most familiar with

A) The author of the comic must've been feeling really non-creative that day or B) He may have been a big Renaissance artist fan.
