How old are you? Age might have to do with you feeling uncomfortable. If you think you're still a little too young to be ready for a boyfriend, that's okay...don't rush!
I was in the same situation recently. Maybe my story will help you out. lol.
A guy asked me out one day and the question made me feel really good, but still very uncomfortable. I told him I'd think about it and get back to him later. I avoided him for a whole week until he brought it back up again. I told him that I thought the two of us should hang out, get to know each other better, and see how it goes. Ever since then we've been hanging out together a lot. Now I'm more comfortable around him and I feel the same way he feels about me. I'm going to give it until Christmas and then tell him we should try going out.
So maybe you should tell him you like him, but you think you two should get to know each other better before you go out to make you feel more comfortable with it. If he does like you he'll understand and wait for you. If he doesn't you'll know he wasn't the right one. Take your time, use your instincts, and good luck!
