My bf is 15 and he's a bit self conscious about
his penis size hes about 5.5 inches long
is that about average?

i know im not really helping here but um...i dont really know what the normal penis...teehee...size is, but i think that that is pretty normal. and also, he is only 15, by chance(hormonal chance), he could encounter more changes.TELL HIM TO BE PROUD OF WHAT HES GOT!! there are probably some websites about it, but you can also ask some guys on advicenators what they think. i hope i could help!!!
