FernGully answered Monday August 30 2004, 8:24 pm:
This is straight from the FAQ
LiveJournal offers two style systems to modify the way your journal or community looks. Style System 1 (S1) is controlled by overrides and the Custom Styles page. Style System 2 (S2) is controlled by the Customize Journal page.
If you are using S2, information on customizing your journal can be found at [Link](Mouse over link to see full location). S2 does not use overrides. If you are using S2 and you want to customize your journal in a way that your chosen S2 layout does not support, you have two options. If you have a Paid, Permanent, or Early Adopter account, you can create a custom S2 style. With any account type, you can switch back to S1 in order to use overrides.
If you are using S1, information on customizing your journal can be found at [Link](Mouse over link to see full location).

I'm assuming you'd have to know your html stuff. I've never heard of anyone doing so?
