Tell him that. Tell him you think you guys aren't the same as you were before. Tell him all your doing is growing futher and futher apart and it would be best to end it now. Say you still indeed want to be friends and keep and touch. Tell him you'll always be there for him no matter what. Also say he would be a great friend because he was a great boyfriend.
