UNC APPLY

Question Posted Monday August 16 2004, 6:40 pm

I am facing a dillema in the sense of I dont knou if i wanna apply to UNC-Chapel Hill. I have decent test scores and a good GPA. The problem I have is that I dont live in North Carolina. I wanna go there but dont wanna be rejected. You have a higher chance of getting in if u live in that state. They only accept 14% of out of state students. So that means, I would be competing against students that have great test scores and GPA. Some of these students have perfect SAT and ACT test scores. To get into UNC, ur best bet is by follows:
1. Alumni (in sense mom dad grandparents went to that school etc...)
2. In State
3. Out of state
a. Pefect Scores
b. Average Scores
c. Below Average Scores
i am in wat u would consider in between a and b more likely the top class of b. I dont wanna face rejection but I am kinda lost wat do u think i should do. People that get into University of Virginia, Yale, Stanford, and other schools have been denied a place at UNC. So, wat is that tellin me? Please help me and tell me wat u think and wat i should do.
Thanks,
Ashish

Dear Ashish,
always remeber there are plenty of fish in the sea. There are so many colleges out there, dont limit yourself. Even though rejection is a possibility, sadly it is something you have to face all through life. The best thing I can tell you to do is apply and see what happens. If we always feared rejection then we would not have no friends, no jobs, etc. So go on and apply. Good Luck!
