i know that i'm in love with my best friend (former boyfriend) we are still great friends and we still do things and i don't mind that because we don't do things with anyone else, but the problem is i really want him as more than a friend and he knows that. i've told him how i feel now and how i felt when we were together how he made me feel so special and since we broke up i haven't felt that way anymore, what do i do?

If youre still in love with your best friend and from what I read, you told him already then why dont you get back together? You never said how he felt but if you still hang out and are great friends, he must still have some feelings for you.
Me and Alex broke up for about a week and we were just friends during that week. We talked every night and it killed me to be just his friend, so I told him I was still in love with him and I wanted him back. So I asked him out and we've been really happy since then.
If you think this guy is your true love, then get him back! Tell him you want to be his girlfriend again and you would do anything to be more than just friends! If he doesnt feel the same way about you, then maybe being friends is the best thing for you two right now. Eventually it will evolve into something more... I wish you the BEST of luck with that boy!
