"Girlfriend" In German

I was wondering, how would a German person refer to their girlfriend? I once heard a guy refer to her as his "friend." Then I heard another person from Germany refer to someone as a "friend."
I assumed that he just meant the girl was a friend. But now I think "friend" means girlfriend. I looked up the German way to say girlfriend, and its Freundin. (Spelled just like Friend.)
So I was wondering, to German people, does "friend" mean boyfriend/girlfriend?

hi!
16/f.. my friend gave me her old phone cus she just got a new one, but she just moved away and i don't have any way of onctacting her. the phone needs a pin number and it's locked so i can't do anything without th enumber. it's a t-mobile dash phone. does anyone know if theres any way i can just like restart the whole phone?

Swimmiing Suit??

Ok, my boyfriends birthday was like 2 days ago and like he's having a party in two weeks. At his party, they are having a pool, which means swimming suits :( And like, i'm definitely not fat or anything, but i have love handles, like really bad. And i know that i cant get completely rid of them at all in like 2 weeks, but i would definitely like to minimize or hide them and the little bit of fat on my back, cause i dont have any thing besides bikinis. What should i do?

The War Of The Worlds book by H.G. Wells

Hello. I just asked a question last night about The War Of The Worlds book by H.G. Wells. I was having trouble with 2 questions in my report and no one ever knew the answer, but that's okay. I'm wondering if anyone has ever read this book, and ALSO seen The War Of The Worlds movie from 1953. It's the really old version of it that's in black and white, not the recent version with Tom Kruise in it. For school I have to read the book, and I've already started. I'm on the 13th chapter. When I read books I miss the answers to a lot of questions sometimes. My question here is how similar the orginal The War Of The Worlds movie is to the book. If there are pretty much no differences I figured It'd be easier for me to just watch the orginal version...
