I'm Confused About My Spiritual Beliefs.

Question Posted Thursday August 15 2013, 3:41 pm

I'm a teenage girl. I have been a Christian for much of my life, but recently I've felt like I'm not meant to be a Christian.

Here are a few things I want to say:
- I appreciate diversity in religion as well as many other things. I think people should be accepted for who they are, regardless of what they believe.
- I believe that all people have worth and all people need a voice.
- I'm not sure about my beliefs about death, but I know I don't believe in Hell.
- I believe that God is everywhere -- I think God is the spirit of life that is in us and all around us. I don't think of God as a deity that can alter the workings of the natural world.
- I believe strongly in being kind to other people as well as the Earth.
- I think of Jesus as a teacher who showed people how to live a life of love and compassion, and I admire the power of his love and the way he lived. Not too much more than that.
- I think people should never stop exploring their beliefs and values.

Thank you for any advice you might have. (By the way, I'm very sorry if what I said offends anyone in any way. I know many people think differently than I do, and I do not intend to insult anyone else's beliefs.)

(Answer:) Every person is free to explore their Spirituality as they see fit. This just happens to agree with the bible. When god had created man, he gave man the power of Free Will. Man could choose for himself the path he would take.
In many eastern traditions the concept of freewill is paramount. Buddhists believe that the choices we make not only affect our lives but those around us as well. This is true, when you consider the interactions you have with others.
What a person believes, or has faith in will determine their path in life. Faith is necessary for spiritually. It is belief in something you can't explain. Some will say that if it can't be proved logically it can't exist. However humans are not the logical creatures we think we are.
The Human mind has a logical and illogical side. The illogical is imagination, faith, belief, hope, emotion. None of which are logical. The logical side is the reasoning side, where we interact and classify what we see and touch. Where we solve problems and use our experience to keep from making the same mistakes. This logical side, however, can't explain the other side.
Think of it this way:
Pick up a book and read one page from the middle. You will understand what the page says, but will you understand its place in the book or the whole book? Probably not. If you read the whole book you will understand the pages place in the book, and the book as a whole.
The book is like our minds. Logic alone can't explain the whole mind because part of the mind is illogical, however the mind can understand logic.
When you explore your spiritually you will come across things that you can't explain. That's what spirituality is all about. Something more than what you can see and touch. Take that leap of faith, it might not be logical, but logic can't explain faith because it's not logical.
Search inside yourself and discover what it is that you truly believe. Hold true to your convictions. Let those who believe different do so, because a belief is something very personal. Something you carry in your heart.
In the end you alone know what it is you believe. So as Shakespeare wrote: "This above all, to thy own self be true."

First I would like to say that you are absolutely right about exploring your beliefs. It is my opinion that far to many people claim a belief in something but never really delve very deep into it to know what they are saying they believe in. You have a belief in God so my advice would be to pray and talk to God, whatever you think he is, and ask him to show you the truth. Pray and ask but don't forget to "listen" to what God tells you. Listen and allow yourself to be lead to truth.
Good luck on your spiritual journey. May god bless you and guide you on your way.

Hi!I just want to tell you that "Jesus Loves You". Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. (John 14:21)

He knows all about you (Before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you as My chosen instrument, and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you;. There's nothing about you that He doesn't already know. Jesus knows how many hairs is on your head (Luke 12:7).

Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins (1John2:2)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16)

Yes,God is everywhere and see everything that is done in the dark and in secret(1 Corinthians 4:5) Jesus is the Son of God (John 1:1,14; Luke 1:35)

You said you don't believe in hell. Hell is a real place. According to the Bible in (Acts 2:27-31, Matthew 10:28, 25:Revelation 20:1541, 25:46, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Matthew 13:41–42)

These are just a few scriptures that are about hell, there's more but I hope that you'll read those above and truly believe that hell is a real place, and know that hell was not meant for you, your family, friends, and people all over the world.

But that it was for satan and the fallen angels who sinned against God. Isaiah 14:12-15.

I want to tell you this, "Jesus is Real, He's your Lord and Savior." Jesus and only Jesus died on the cross for all your sins (Romans 3:23)

Only through Jesus Christ can our sins be forgiven, and restoring our relationship with God and removing the separation caused by sin.
2 Corinthians 5:21

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. In Galatians 5:22-23 Talks about the Fruit of the Spirit, and all of them point directly to Jesus, who is the Son of God.

John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. Remember that God is the Father.

Proverbs 3:5-8 say's "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding, 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths,7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil, 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

I Pray In The Name Of Jesus Christ that this helps you with the struggle that has come against your mind (an assignment sent by the enemy of your soul). The devil is real and he's after your soul, and really wants your mind the most. If he can continue to make you doubt God then he will do everything to make sure you go to hell. (He is the Father of lies John 8:44)

In the Name of Jesus, Father I left up this teenage girl and Father I ask that You would reveal Yourself to her in a mighty way, that you would send Your laborers straight into her path and guide her with love and understanding of You.

Father I pray that she will seek You! And that she won't ever let go of Your Hand, and that she will cry out to you Father with her whole heart, and that she can walk being faithful to You and only You Father. I pray Lord that she stays in her prayer closet and in the Word and she gets the answers she's searching for.

Father, Your Daughter is crying out to You, and I know You hear her cries, You see her heart. Father I pray that she be set free from all the lies, deception, and carnal thinking. Father, I ask You on her behalf that You help her, open her eyes to see Father, In Jesus Name, Amen

Not all Christians believe the same exact things. Many believe in G!d and not Jesus and some believe in Jesus and not G!d. So therefore you are a Christian with your own beliefs and views. That is okay

I was raised Roman Catholic, I however do not believe in Jesus or Virgin Mary. I believe G!d is eternity and is beyond what humans can ever imagine. G!d to me is not a person.
I believe strongly in reincarnation and the afterlife.

I however am no longer Roman Catholic, I have changed my views since I was a child and attend a Unitarian church. Again, My views have changed over the course of 11 years.
