Okay, so I want to make a garden filled with different and bright colors. The thing is, I've tried this before and lots of animals around my neighborhood destroyed the plants no matter what we did. Now we have some pots with plants in them. We have tomatoes, and morning glories. Our marigolds died sadly along with the petunias and I want to replace them. Being it is Summer, and I live in Southern California, could you recommend plants that can tolerate heat, maybe drought, and lots of sun? Thanks!

Usually a California nursery is not going to carry many plants that require cooler, shady rainy climate like the pacific north-west. It is better because you can discuss your issue with neighbor hood animals getting into the yard and what type of animals. Dogs and cats...or do you need deer resistant plants. Once you've been shown all that works, then you can make your purchases based on what appeals to your eyes and what limit your budget is.

Hope that helps! [ dreamer1999's advice column | Ask dreamer1999 A Question ]
