Advice from a college student for high school students who want help from someone who's been to high school, done high school stuff, and... well, to complete the saying, 'got the t-shirt'. Mostly focused on interpersonal stuff, though I'm good for homework help too.

My suggestion is - take some initiative and walk your dog, take some time to be around your dad, and invite your friends over with your friends' permission because then they'll invite you over.
Make sure you talk to your sister, too. Call your mom or dad while they're not at home and say hello or something. It's as easy as picking up the phone.
You just need to do your part in relating to these people.

Does anyone have some good, out of the ordinary, kind of crazy ideas for what I could do with my boyfriend? I don't want the relationship to be based around physical aspects, I want to be able to do other things with him. We do already, but we're running out of ideas. I live on Lake Michigan, have a reasonable budget, (but nothing too big or expensive please), and really like to try new, random, and less usual things to do with a date. Any ideas? Oh yeah, I'm 16/f. (link)

Seeing as I have a penchant for the insane and I also have a boyfriend, I might be able to offer you a few suggestions.
1) Make a movie. Your movie can be about anything. All you need is a camera and your imagination.
2) If you want to get a little physical with your boyfriend, I recommend a game of Twister to tie your limbs up in knots and put you at close quarters. :P
3) Play pranks on unsuspecting bystanders.
4) If you live near the University of Michigan or near Michigan State University, check to see if either one has an observatory (I know Penn State's main campus, where I go to school, has an observatory!) and do some good telescope-assisted stargazing. :)
5) Walk the trails of a local park.
There's lots of websites out there that offer even more ideas. Use your imagination.
Hope this helps.

i am a 13/m and i just cant seem to loose wieght i am 5,4 and wieght between 120-125 and i skateboard and am very active and sweat alot but i just cant seem to loose my baby fat and my gut i have a six pack but it doesnt show that much and when me and my friends skate to impress the girls i want to keep my shirt on so how can i loose wieght faster then i have been
P.S. i have lost about 10 pounds in the last 6-8 months (link)

125 pounds is nothing to complain about - you're definitely not overweight for your size. I'm as tall as you are, and I wear my 130 pounds rather well, in my opinion. Keep skating, you'll strengthen your legs and lose some weight. Also, try an activity that makes you use your stomach muscles, as well - you only lose fat around the muscles you use.

I wanted to get Emancipated because I live with my dad and he constantly give me put downs, and so does his wife, linda my step mom. My moms an alcholic, and was abusive too me when I was a child now we have a realationship but I can't live with her. I need to get out, because this faily is driving me nuts, I feel so horrable at home I drive myself crazy... I have two jobs, enoguh money, live in VA, and have another place to live, with my retired boss, who's 61. She'd watch over me, and take care of me, untill im 21..
I work really hard im a great student and am well rounded. But I'm 15..Is there anyway I could get emanciapated? If so how, and etc. Thanks ! (link)

Unfortunately, in the state of Virginia (where I live), you cannot become an emancipated minor until you are sixteen, even though you can support yourself on your own, because you have not yet reached the age of majority.
That said, I suggest you get in touch with your retired boss and ask her if she can help you obtain some counseling, because this is truly a sticky situation. I wish you luck.
Hope this helps.

See I have this really awsome Dad. But I stopped seing him because him and my mom got in a fight. Like not physical. But like swearing. Then that went to court and I am not allowed to see him anymore. I havnt seen him in 5 years. And all my friends at school know him and get to see him and are always talking about how cool he is and I know he is cool but I miss him reallllyyy bad. And I cant wait until I am 18 to see him but I have to. Every night I cry and cry. What do I do? What do I do to stop being depressed. Everyone at school calls me bad names and a girl even sprained my pinky but the teachers dont really care. They just gave her lunch detention for one day. All my friends are like get over it. Dont care what people say. But ever since I strted public school (since 5th grade) people have been treating me like crap every day and it doesnt stop. Its not just the normal name calling, its worse and it has scarred me. I cant take it anymore. Its so annoying and I am a sensitive person but I act tough and just cry when I get home. I have tried to do something about it but they just blame it on me when I am kind to them even when their mean to me. I even got suspended once for no reasen. Well, the person blamed somthing on me and i got suspened for 4 days (in school suspension) plus week of detention. I dont know what to do. Plus my mom verbally fights with me a lot. I dont feel safe anywhere. What do I do? My mom even called me a loser and I suck and said my friends are losers and no1 likes me? HELP!I am a girl and I am 12. HELLLLLPPPPP! (link)

This sounds like something you need to talk to your school counselor about. Make an appointment with him or her and bring up your concerns, because unlike your parents, counselors are PAID to lend a helping hand to you, and this is the job they CHOSE, so most likely, they like their job. Reaching out for help is a good first step.
Also, you do not 'suck'. Nobody in and of themselves 'sucks'. My parents are still together, but you remind me a little of how I got similarly abused in third, fourth, and fifth grade. It's not fun, but you can resolve your problem gradually.
That said, what I suggest you do about it is find some school activities to involve yourself in, and spend time finding your own interests. You'll soon learn that you don't need to be popular to be a worthwhile person, and that the people who will be your truest friends will like you for who you are. So it's okay to cry, but stand up to the people who are abusing you, and in the meantime, search for other people whom you haven't approached yet - try talking to and being around the shy people, the nerds, or even a popular person that you haven't approached yet. Once you make yourself approachable, people will come to appreciate your qualities, and THAT is how you gain friends. Good luck!
Hope this helps.

can anyone recommend a good reliable music download site? One that is easy to access and I won't have to install a whole bunch of stuff, because I want to be able to access from work or at home. And what is the price range per tune? I'd heard it's roughly $ .99 to $2.50 each?
Thanks :) I'll rate (link)

For a good home download site, I'd suggest Bearshare. Otherwise, iTunes at $.99 a tune sounds like the most reliable service around, though there are probably some reliable free music services.

My mom is really riding my case about getting a part time job since I am planning to wed next year. I would have a job if I didnt have 18 hours this semester. that is a lot of responsiblity. Its not like this will push the wedding back It would just get me more details on my big day. I want her to back off but she is my mom how do I tell her?22/f (link)

Yes, you have eighteen credit hours this semester. You didn't say how many credit hours you were going to take in any following semesters.
That said, eighteen credit hours is a lot. However, this issue comes down to time management. Can you find a job through your school that can earn you money while still allowing you to have the class schedule that you have? Plan out your credit hours for subsequent semesters and then, if that isn't good enough, tell your mother that your education (I'll assume you're in some sort of graduate school, since you're twenty-two) is a higher priority than getting a part-time job right now, and that you can find a part-time job once you are married. Lots of graduate students work part-time and can manage a busy class schedule. Plan out your day, set aside time for schoolwork, make sure you can squish in your work between all your classes, and do your best!
Hope this helps.

i am very religious but i want to masturbate and idk what to do because i know its a sin so i was wondering if its a mortal sin or a venial sin (link)
|
I take it you're Roman Catholic.
I'm an agnostic, but I came from a Roman Catholic background, so I'll attempt to answer this as well as I can. Masturbation is considered a sin within the Roman Catholic Church, because it interferes with the supposed procreative-only purpose of sex, according to the Magisterium.
However, to put this in a real-life perspective, many Roman Catholics still masturbate. It's considered a venial sin, as far as I'm aware.
I'm not telling you to jerk off or to not jerk off, but masturbation is probably the least of your worries.
Hope this helps.

I don't really like talkin to my mom and or dad about boys or if have a boyfriend i get sord of embarressed that they will make a big deal out of it and i dont really want them too. Any tips on not to be embarressed or nervous??? (link)

This depends on how old you are. I'd bring it up to your mom, actually, because moms are USUALLY (but some of the time they're not) good sources of dating advice - don't use your mom as the ONLY source of dating advice, but she will most certainly be influential.
So, the age-old question of Boys. Definitely mention this to your parents. I was a little frightened when I brought the subject of my first crush up to my mother, in eighth grade, and even more intimidated by my mother in my junior year of high school when I first mentioned my first (and current) boyfriend, whom I've been dating for over a year and a half now!
Your mom's been there, done that - because she gave birth you, and your father had to factor into the equation there somewhere in order for you to be alive, and the vast majority of the time, children are a result of sex within a loving partnership. She'll understand where you're coming from. It's okay tell her you're a little embarrassed, because she will most likely be able to understand where you're coming from.
Hope this helps.
