I'm starting college at Marshall University (a mid-sized university in West Virginia, where I live) a week from today. I've been to the campus a bunch of times and know my way around, and I know the professors won't baby you and make you do your work like high school teachers do. I'm jsut wondering what classes are like. How are they setup? DO they give out handouts? Is there homework, besides studying?

Also, what kind of school supplies should I get? For high school, I got 1" binders for each class and put looseleaf or a 3- or 5- subject notebook in them. Should I follow this same method for college? I'm taking 16 hours, which is five classes and an "Introduction to the University" class, which only lasts 8 weeks. (link)
The couple of Doctors I know all took A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

If you look at the university level courses you want to take, it should say if there are any compulsory courses/grades you need.

I'm 16 and 5'3 and 3/4. I've been in the 5'3" range since I was 11. I guess I started puberty early, because I got my period a week after my 10th birthday. I dont remember how tall I was then, but in 2nd grade I was 4'8". In second grade I was also size 8 shoe. Now I am a size 10 shoe.. which is weird seeing as I'm pretty short, and people with those size shoes as girls are almost 6 feet tall.

I really want to grow taller.. is it going to happen since feet grow before the rest of your body? I play volleyball and even though I have good hops, I won't be able to go far with it competing for a spot on a team with taller girls who will reach the top of the net faster since they are closer to the top of it. My older sister is 6'1" and has size 13 shoe. But she started puberty when she was 12-13 years old. My parents are both in the 5'8-5'10" range, too.

My height is the only part of me I feel self conscious about. I like to be taller than other people. Like preferably get in the 5'8"-5'10" range. I don't care if there's less guys.. I want to date a tall guy anyways, but I don't want there to be a huge height difference between us.

What are other signs your growing taller apart from your feet? I've actually been size 10 shoes since I was 14 or 15. I used to be like 9 3/4, so I'd wear size 10 and it would be a bit roomy, but I could also wear size 9 1/2. but now I just wear 10.

What are things I can do to hasten the growing process, too? (link)
It seems unlikely you'll grow much more than you are now. Technically you don't stop growing until you're 21 so you never know...

Girls hit puberty much earlier than boys which is why it's not uncommon to see most 12 year old girls taller than 12 year old boys.

My brother weighs around between 210-220 pounds. I am helping him out so what are some good tips to lose weight fast within a week. What I am looking for is what foods to eat each day and how much of it. Also what excercises he can do at home to speed up the process. Also some ways to trick your body into losing more weight like for example if you excercise your upper body one day then excercise your lower body the next day, it can trick your body or something. (link)
Look for healthy, delicious meals online or in your cookbooks, and create a menu for the week. Make sure that your meal plan reduces your total calorie intake: you're not going to lose weight if you consume the same amount of calories by eating different foods. Make a list of what you'll need for these meals, and -- except for a few snacks, of course -- don't stray from your list when you get to the market. Planning your meals helps ensure you get a balanced diet and reduces the temptation to stop off for fast food or order a pizza. Remember, it's easier to stick to your shopping list if you shop when you aren't hungry - this will help avoid impulse buys which contribute to calorie consumption.

okay so here's the deal all my family and friends are going on a cruise in July and I am in no shape to go. I need advice on how I can go from a size 13 to an 8 in less then 4 months. like diet tips and workout routines all that. Please help me! THANK YOU (link)
When, like I had, you've let yourself get out of shape, it often takes more energy than it's worth to start thinking about how to get back into shape. But, getting back into shape doesn't have to be that difficult. In
fact, it can be done in as little as six weeks and here's how.

1. Set Goals - Before you start an exercise and diet program to get back into shape in six weeks, set some reasonable goals for yourself. When I did it, I set two goals: 1) exercise for at least 30-45 minutes six days a week and 2) lose at least 3 pounds a week. That meant that, with a six week 'getting into shape' plan, I was likely to lose around 18-20 lbs and be much more toned up.

2. Eat Healthier/Natural Food - Just because you're trying to get back into shape, doesn't mean you don't eat. Think about what you normally eat (for most of us it's high-fat junk food, which is why we're out of shape in the first place). Substitute your normal diet with low-fat foods, fish, chicken, fruits and vegetables, low fat yoghurt and milk, some nuts, beans, wholewheat bread - basically all the healthy stuff. It's amazing how, just eating healthy food, can get you back into shape and it tastes good too.

3. Stop Eating Sugar - One of my failings is eating too much sugar. Cut out the sugar. If you must have sugar in coffee, try to cut it down to less than one teaspoon (I don't agree with sugar substitutes like aspartame, as they have been shown to cause problems with the brain etc). Otherwise, only eat natural sugars from fruit. it's quite easy to get into shape in six weeks if you don't eat processed sugars.

Crunches, squats and lunges, plus basic floor routines and stretching can actually help the body calm itself before bed. Just don't do anything active that will raise your heartrate. You could have trouble sleeping.
