My idea for this post was to make a rule based post. Call it the healthy and fit algorithm. In the most general sense, an algorithm is a set of detailed instructions which results in a predictable end result.

Follow them consistently and you’ll be well on your way to getting in shape!

Remember: Getting in shape is about 3 things. Eating right. Exercising. And doing those two things consistently! Of course, that’s easier said than done but it’s the truth. Getting into shape is not rocket science!

Let’s get right into it.

Food:

1. Eat every 3-4 hours. By doing this you’ll keep your blood sugar stable which is the key and also turn your body into a fat burning machine. Think of your metabolism like a camp fire. If you don’t want a camp fire to burn out, you have to constantly add wood and logs to it.
2. Never let yourself get hungry! This serves many purposes. It keeps your blood sugar stable, keeps that fire burning, but also when you’re very hungry it’s extremely hard to make good decisions!
3. Eat only complex carbs. Refined and simple carbs will spike your blood sugar which is exactly what we don’t want. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white, whole wheat pasta instead of regular, brown rice instead of white, etc.

4. Eat lean proteins! Depending on your lifestyle stick with proteins like chicken, eggs, and fish. Beans, nuts, legumes, and lentils are also awesome choices.
5. Veggies! You can never have too many vegetables. I say everything in moderation. Even moderation. Not with veggies!
6. Fruit is nature’s candy. Eat fruit when you are craving something sweet. You’ll be amazed at how little you miss junk food!
7. Drink lots of water. No need to get obsessive but try to drink a glass of water with each meal, and in between every meal. Your body will love you for it.
8. Don’t eat 2-3 hours before bedtime. And if you must – make it a protein rich snack.
9. Don’t eat until you’re stuffed. Instead, eat until you’re satisfied. You should feel like you can exercise right after you eat.
10. Eat slowly. The best way to eat until you’re satisfied is to savor every bite. The slower you eat the more full you’ll feel. It takes 20 minutes for our brain to realize we’ve eaten. We don’t need nearly as much food as we think we do!

my face is getting chubby. does anyone know any ways to lose weight in your face? (link)
You have to lose sweweight off your entire body in order to see the results on your face. Fortunately, the face is one of the first place to see the results of your efforts. I do face toning exercises since I was about 13 years old. All you have to do is distort your face and hold it for a count of 10secs. For example, you can open your mouth wide, and hold it. Or you twist your mouth tight to the left, hold and then the right, then hold. A really good one to do is practice lifting your cheekbones by smiling with your mouth closed, up and then down. You can do this in the car, in the shower and before bed. Trust me it works!

An additional answer

Food intolerance or food sensitivities can sometimes cause a face to be fat even when the rest of the body is slim. If you think that might be the case, try a food elimination diet. To learn how to do that properly, you will need to buy a good book on food intolerance/sensitivities/allergies or borrow a copy from your local library. Make sure the book includes instructions on how to accurately put into practice a food elimination diet

Maybe I am the only one that this has ever happened to. That is what I always used to tell myself up until this last time. It doesn't happen every time but quite frequently since I have started going out for track at school I puke when running.

I am running along just fine and then my body decides that it's time to puke. :-( There doesn't appear to be anything damaged since I can still run so I just thought there was something "special" about me.

Will this last week guess what I saw? That's right another girl puke when running! Now she is from another high school and I don't know how to just walk up to somebody and start talking about puke LOL!

So does this happen to anybody else? I used to think it was just me now I am wondering if it's just me and this other girl from some other high school. Is there anything I can do about it or is it just part of the process so to speak?

Thank you for any help you can give. (link)
Maybe its time for a change, start by eating something small (like a banana, work up to a bagel: a great thing to have is a bagel with peanut butter and sliced banana, this could last you for a 2 hour run) an hour or two before your runs. As we get older, our body changes and require more attention to nutrition, especially when we excersise. We need to replenish what we lose.

Are you well hydrated before you run? Carry a water/sport drink with you to keep you from bonking. (I use a hand held bottle holder and anything over 20K I use a waist bottle holder and carry gels)

Check with your doctor, to make sure there is no underlying problems.

Run Happy :)

I have been trying to get in shape for a long time. I've gone on diets, and I basically know what to eat & how to exercise.
What I need is ideas on how to keep this change as a lifestyle, and not something temporary...
Also, once I hit a plateau, it's really hard to stay on the diet because it stops working for me...

Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time (link)
You can try to beat the weight loss plateau by going on a type of fast. It can be a water or juice fast and there are weird ones that I've never tried. But it can change your metabolism and help you with your weight loss. You can do brief fasts for like two-three days or longer ones that last like a week or longer...but you should google fasting to see what would benefit you if you're will to try it.

You will drop a lot of weight pretty quickly and it's not terribly difficult if you just keep yourself distracted and drink water all day. And you're surprisingly not tired, so you can still go to the gym if you feel like it. Hope this helps if you haven't considered it before!

I want to try the Shake Weight, the device used to help tone your arm muscles. Does it really work? (link)
Depends, whats your goal? it may help add some arm muscle. But if your looking to lose arm fat you need to change your diet to do that. Working out your arm muscles wont burn off arm fat, you need a good lower cal diet to lose fat, any fat. You cant target fat loss to certain areas.
