In the book "Speak" by Laurie Anderson .. what r all the problems Melinda faces? like i know she gets raped, nd everyones mad at her for calling the police and breaking up the party .. but other than that .. what r the problems she faces.

I'm only in high school, and I'm still pretty young, but I truly think I am in love!! There is this kid and I REALLY like him, I'm not sure, but I'm almost positive it's love. Any tips to determine whether or not I do love him?
and also...another question...
How do I get him to pay attention to me? (I never see him in the halls or anything, I only have gym class with him) I am really too self-conscious to go up to him, but how do I get him to notice me (in a good way)? Any useful tips are 5's!

woah wait... if the only time you ever see him is gym class, there is no way you know if you love him much less even like him! he might end up being a real jerk or really immature or somthing!! trust me most hot guys turn out to be real immature- (i would know more than anbody!) if i were you, i would try meeting him and asking him out. what i would do first is durring gym ask him if he wants to study with you and a group of friends at the library (for example) and then at the libary ask him if he wants to hang out another time. after that ask him on a date. untill you really get to know him, you cant say you love him. hope it works out!!

my parents were never married, and shortly after i was born they split up. my father was an alcaholic and he used to come around sometimes when i was little, but when i got older i almost never saw him. when i was like 12 i would go to my grandfathers before for school because my mom worked and one day he just showed up. he told me to come to breakfast with him before school but i kicked and screamed. he picked me up and forced me into his truck, go to breakfast, and then school. since then my parents have been in and out of cort, and me and my mom learned he was a drug attic, and was homeless. i am 14 now and forced to go with him every saturday. i hate it, and we dont speak..we just sit in him old truck. on odd years (like this one) i have to spend thanksgiving and christmas with him. i never thought he even loved me..just the idea of me, but yet he still makes me go. he and his family are like strangers to me, and it is hard for me to be voicetrous and mean to them because of that. i really hate going with him and i want to stop. How do you think i can tell him that? because even though it seems easy, whenever i try i am somehow lost for words. please tell me what you think. (link)

he only forces you to spend time with him because he loves you! it probably makes him really sad that you wont talk to him! try treating him like hes a dad that you want. act like you love him back and you might have a better time with him. tell him how you feel about what he does, and explain thats why you dont like to spent time with him. mabey you can help him change.

me and all my freinds walk places!! we walk to the pizzaria near our house, to the library, to the little antique shops and gift shops in our town!! near the hollidays, we walk to main street where all the little gift shops are and buy all of eachothers christmas presents!! its a blast!! good luck on finding somthing!!

since you want to be graceful, mabey you should do like a pretty smile with your mouth closed, not a big showing your teeth smile. i know that sounds weird, but i think a big huge smile would look weird. the sugar plum fairy is good and beautiful, i think it would look weird if you didn't smile at all. :)

OK,well. I am 13/f and i recently moved into my sisters old room. I am going to redo it. I can't repaint it tho. Two walls are red, two walls are white. I really love the old hollywood look like marilyn monroe, the coca-cola stuff... that type of stuff. Well, I'm having a really hard time thinking of ideas and finding stuff to do. one time i was at this antique store with my mom, and there was this old coca-cola sign, and they also had a bunch of old bottles and crates and stuff that had the coca-cola logo on it. mabey you'd like to do your room like vintage-hollywood-glamour- style! that would be pretty sweet!

i do the same thing!! what i would do first is wear them around your friends first before you wear them to school. dont mention it to them, see if they notice first. if they're honest, they'll tell you if they love it or dont care for it!
