As a percentage, how effective and reliable is the birth control pill against pregnancy?

I know it doesn't protect against STI's.

they say its like 99% but thats not true its usually around 85% and thats only if you take it everyday and the same time give or take a few minutes off.....

okay,so way before i even knew what it was i was attracted to girls.ive been attracted to guys,but a lot more girls.So i was pretty sure i was bi-sexual.But i had sex and done everything with a guy,and didn't get any enjoyment whatsoever.not because it was my first time,because even after that.i just am not attracted to a penis.touching it grosses me out unless im drunk or something.but i still think a lot of guys are hott and thought i was like in love with one.but its just so wierd now,cause when i did everything with a girl it just seemed right and everything(of ocurse the first time was kinda awkward tho)

okay well i got my period on the 13 of december and then after i had sexual relationships with my boy friend and one time we didnt use anything we stopped because i got to scared that something might happen so he didnt cum ore anything but the scary cat i amk i decided to take the pill and on the 1st of january i got my period again in the morning i bled a lot only once and then after i hardly bled anything what does that mean???? i know the pil discontrols your period but i mean why do you think i bled a lot only once in the morning and not that much after????

its like you said the pill discontrols your period, adn when you first start takin the pill you have to wait for your period to start then you start takin the pill, you know to see if itll stop your period.

it all depends on how lose you are... down there and how many fingers are being used. no masturbation isnt suppossed to hurt, its something a person does for pleasure.

Im on YA-Z ( birth control ) and ive had sex with my boyfriend here and there, but im not sure what color pill ive been on cause it changes.. soo does it matter when im having sex? and also. i had my period 2 weeks ago and it came again yesterday? but like it stopped already, is that normaL?

yes it is normal cuz the yaz taht you're on is probably not a strong enough dose, since you started to bleed through, i would recommend going to your doctor and get a stronger dose, especially if you're still going to have sex cauz since youre bleeding through, the pill it wont protect you as much as it would have if you had a stronger dose.

About birth control. If you have finished the peach /placebo pill week and start a new packet on a sunday. Can you have sex that day? I always use a condom but would the pill protect me and how long does it take?

I've been taking the pill for 6 months so I know it takes at least a month to regulate. But how long does a single pill take.. to.. take effect? Hours.. or a whole week? Would it be wise to take the pill and have sex when you're supposedly on your period? Will the pill stop it?

yes, if you have just finished the placebo pill week and start a new packet you can have sex. you have to take the Pill seven days straight for it to reach its full strength. it would be helpful to take the pill and have sex will you're on you're period but it takes a few days for the pill to stop you're period if you havnt already been bleedin for a full week.

well if you dont want to tell her you're wanting the Pill cuz you want to have sex you should tell her you're periods are extremely heavy and you would like to get on the Pill so it will decrease the flow.....that's what i did ,and the doctors didnt even know that i was liein my *ss off!lol

I am on birth control to regulate my period.. and i've tried going off it but i NEED it to regulate my period i've been off and on it for 2 yrs now nothing more solid then 6 months so I don't think its QUITE enough time to fully regulate me but my question is.. when i get older and go off this birth control can i get pregnant? Also what if i dont regulate.. can i still get pregnant? I want to have a family. Please take this very seriously, sometimes i lie awake thinking about it!

yes, when you get older and decide to get off the Pill ,and have sex you will have a greater chance of gettin pregnant. cauz you have to be on the Pill for 7 days straight before the Pill will be to its full capacity to work effectively, if you dont want to get pregnant. if you're bleeding when you're not suppossed to while you're on the Pill, that means that the Pill you're currently on isnt working as well as it is suppossed to, so yes you will have a greater chance of getting pregnant if you're bleeding through, so if you dont want to get pregnant id go to my doctor and ask for a stronger dose of the Pill.....
