(14, female)
My past boyfriend and I broke up about three
weeks ago after he cheated on me with the girl
I already disliked. After the breakup, I became
good friends with my old boyfriend, Michael.
My best friend, Annie, had a huge drinking
problem last year, and got to the point where
she had 30 minutes to live after alcohol
poisining. After about 9 months of trying
to change her around, she broke our trust and
drank again.
So to get me through the problems, Michael and
I became best friends again. At one point I
totally fell for him when I realized how great
he was. But I'm having such a hard time trusting
people after my latest problems, I'm not sure
what to do. I love him to death, as my best
friend. He's planning on asking me out soon,
because I told him I liked him to get my
mind off of my ex who cheated on me.
Now, I want to keep him as my best friend,
I'm not ready to trust another person with
my heart like that just yet. I'm not sure how
to tell him, I don't want to hurt him or scare
him away. I really can't lose him, I need
him right now. What should I do? (link)

You should probably tell him BEFORE he asks you out. Tell him that you like him, but you really aren't ready to be more than friends because you're still so torn over your past relationship and how it ended. Just be honest with him and if he's worth anything at all, he'll understand. Then you guys can go back to being just friends and if things progress later, then see how you feel about it all then, but just be upfront and honest now BEFORE anything happens so that you can save everyone from too many problems and emotional dilemmas.
Good luck!

my friend's dad is really abusive + she only trusted a few people to know. one of those people spilled the beans and told the school. she said she's being called down to the office alot to be quesioned. 5 times in two days. she said their guhna ask anyone whos been to her house how her dad acts i dont wanna be the reason she gets removed from her house, even though i know shes in a bad sitch + she already told them about how he's abusive. what should i say? you really need to tell them when they ask. I know that you want to help your friend, but not telling would just be worse for her. She needs to get out of that house and away from her father so she doesn't get seriously hurt. Also check on her mom's condition if the two are still married. See how the dad treats her and how the mom treats her. It might just be him or both of them. YOu really need to help her and get her out of there before something goes seriously wrong.
Good luck!

i have this friend that i admire. she always makes me laugh and shes just amazing and shes always been there for me. ever since this school year started she made so many new friends, and i kinda got jealous so i didnt really pay attention to her because i wanted to see if she would do anything. she still acts really nice to me when the few times i actually do see her. im just kinda sad cause i dont see her as much as i used to and im afraid of being replaced by someone else. am i doing the right thing by not paying attention to her? if not what should i do? i don't think ignoring her is the best way to go about it, especially if you want to be her friend. Try talking to her more. Try to plan things for the two of you to do together. YOu don't have to see her all the time to be friends with her. You can also try to make friends with her new friends and then join into their group. I'm sure that she still wants to be your friend, so make an effort to maintain your friendship and everything should go well.
Hope i helped!

I have this best friend and we have been friends for 11 years. Well she is kinda hard to buy for durring the holidays. She never really say what she likes and what she doesnt. I know her realyy well but when it comes to buying gifts its hard. Most years i can find something good and it works out but this year i coulnt. I had no clue what to get her, but her favorite store is american egale. So worst came to worst and got her a giftcard to there for 30$. Is that a bad gift? We have been friends for so long a gift card seems unthoughful. I feel like a bad friend. (link)

I personally love gift cards. The problem with my figure is that I'm kind of halfway in a dancer's body and halway more of a singer's body, so its awkward. I have large ribs and no boobs so its hard to find clothes that fit right, especially when someone else gets something for you. I like gift cards because then it shows that the person thought about where to get it (especially if you got it from her favorite store) and you can pick out exactly what you want and in your size. It even gives you guys more time together if you were to go shopping together. All in all, i think its a great idea.

So, say my friends April, Vanessa and I are planning on hanging out on Friday. So, Friday night I will call Vanessa and she NEVER picks up her house phone or cell phone. Like, I'll have talked to about hanging out the day before, not made exact plans but mentioned it and she'll be like oh yeah I think I can. Then the day of it, we'll try to contact her and we won't be able to. So then we don't do anything. It's so frusterating because it ruins my night because I'll try to contact her up til the last minute and then it's too late to do anything else. It's really annoying & frusterating. What should I do? (link)

i have the same problem with some of my friends. I think you should talk to her about it. It may be her decision not to go out, but it may be her parents. She may be thinking she can, but when she asks her parents they say no. Some parents aren't very leniant or randomly just say no, like my parents do. talk to her and see if you can find out what's really going on. Also, in the future, try making plans with multiple friends. Don't base it around her, but invite her to come along. Then, you are still able to do something and she can come or not come on her own accord and you can still have fun.
Hope i helped!

Things like this happen all the time in high school. Has she made any new friends who act like this? If so, that could be why. She might be going through things at home or with others. I think that you should try to talk to her and see whats going on. If she continues to push you away, just tell her that you're there for her if she needs anything and leave it hanging, just in case there really is a problem. If things don't get better, try talking to your friends about it. Talk to them about how you feel about her and see if they've noticed anything. And politely ask them if they would be okay with just you guys hanging out, without her once in a while. Make sure that you don't make it seem like you're jealous of her or anything and that you're just hurt by it. You don't want people to get the wrong impression. Besides, if she really is being this way for no reason, then she's not worth your time at all and you should make a new friend.
Hope i helped!
