Hey there. Ask away whatever you want answered and I'll do my best. Please avoid unconventional capitalization and spelling - it makes the questions harder to read and so I'm less likely to answer.

ok i have no idea what to do for it. The project is im supposed to write a modern pilgrimage in the same style as chaucer
like use lots of irony and make the characters kinda take the modern role of the ones in the canteberry tales. It can be to any place that people would go to today, like i know someone whos making theirs a trip to the shore

so basically if you have any ideas on where they should go, and ten characters to put in it, then please let me know.. asap!!! its due tomorrow and i havent even started... YIKES! (link)
What about putting 10 high school or college students together on say a band/orchestra etc trip? Make them from different 'castes'/cliques in school (stereotypical mind you). Might be sort of lame, but it could be interesting.
You could also send them on a church trip, or a road trip across the country.

It's not much to go off, but maybe it'll at least get you started. Good luck!

Ok so I'm doing an immigration essay at school and I'm writing about how it's beneficial to the United States. The problem is, I'm really confused and I have no idea how to word and set up my essay. The problem I'm having right now, is that I can't think of 3 main points. Like for each point, it will be one paragraph. I think I could do a point about Cultural stuff, but I need 2 more points. If anyone could give me ideas of 2 more points to write about (and I don't want them to be rude), and if you could give me great websites or say your opinion than that would be GREATLY appreciated! (link)
Culture can work - the US is a "melting pot" of cultures (or so people claim) so more diversity is good.
Immigrants often will do the jobs that Americans don't want to do. (Sounds harsh, but it's true). Americans like the corporate jobs with really high pay but the non-corporate jobs have to get done too and some of them make a good bit of money.

Also check to see if there's a benefit to international relations there. I'm not sure but it might be worth checking out.

Check these sites too.

Try keywords like "immigration and international relations" "immigration and culture" "immigration and America"

All of my friends know what area of work they are interested in(medicine, education etc,) but I have no idea! Im in honors Chemistry and im passing all my classes. But there arnt any classes that i LOVE. help
(link)
Don't worry about it. Honestly. Even if your friends think they know right how what they want to do, more likely than not they'll change majors in college.
Maybe it's more that you're not TAKING a class you love - try new things! There's nothing that says you have to want to be a doctor or medical profession or teacher. Try joining student groups, take voice classes, anything! You'll find your calling, no worries - it might just take a little time.

What are long term goals?

Short term goals?

about low long by years or months are they?

And what are educational or career goals?

Can you give me some examples? And aren't those three goals can be like the same thing cuz an educational goal could be being a doctor and that can be long term?? (link)
Short-term goals are goals a person has for a upcoming time in the future - usually within a week or two.
Long-term goals are longer obviously and their dates may be years in the future.
Educational goals are things like keeping on track to graduate within a certain number of years or maintaining a certain GPA.
Career goals are pretty much what they sound like - goals for a job like getting all work done so you don't have to work overtime.

what would be some things you would do to make america better? like give homeless people food and shelter, teaching about God should be aloud in public schools, etc. list as many as you can please! i will rate you. thank you soooo much! (link)
Better public transportation, more awareness about mental health, more work toward environmentally friendly cars, work into alternative energy, affordable housing for the poor, more social workers to help the poor/homeless get back on their feet (find a job, home etc), optional religions of the world class in schools, teaching cultures/more geography in social studies classes.

if you could build yourself the perfect place to live.. the perfect house or mansion. what would you put in it? what kinds of things would you do to make it different from other houses..if you had all the money in the world. ex: one floor is made out of trampoline canvas. things like that. be creative! im trying to get ideas for a college project im working on. thannkks! :] (link)
I'd totally have rooms that were themed based on favorite books - some like a fantasy world, others like another time before the present, one would probably be made like a Hogwarts common room, one would be part of England in the tales of King Arthur...etc. (If I had the science or magic ability, I'd have the rooms take you to places).
I'd also have dance studio with curtains that could cover the mirrors to turn it into a small theatre.
The house would have, instead of stone or brick, mosaic tiles in iridescent colors so that they'd reflect the color of whatever was in front of them.

im going to be a freshman next year. actually school starts in about two weeks but whatever. and im going to a new school and theres a ton of people at my school.
and in middle school i had 2 boyfriends and a lot of friends.
and next year im going to the high school my middle school feeds into so its not like im moving anywhere.
but im worried since im going to a huge school with so many people that im not gonna get a boyfriend or i might loose my friends right now.
am i worrying too much? (link)
High school is a roller coaster. Been there, done that and graduated.
I wouldn't worry about getting a boyfriend right off - it'll happen in time. Plus, high school has a good deal more homework and expectations than middle school (though I'm sure you've heard that a million times by now) and romance right off isn't necessarily the best thing. If it happens and you want it, take it, but don't worry about looking too hard. There are guys all over in high school and you've got four years.
As for your friends - maybe you're right to be worried, maybe you're wrong. Unfortunately, only time will really tell you. BUT, here's my advice: if they want to go, let them. If you all stay together as a group, be open to others joining you. Even if you're at a big school, exclusive groups are pretty annoying. Reach out to people who AREN'T coming from your middle school - imagine how they'll feel coming in not knowing ANYONE.
Even if you do lose some of your friends, high school has a lot of people that you can be friends with instead. Sounds painful, but it's true.
Good luck!

hey this is about the great gatsby question.. my topic is a character study of daisy.. in my paper i want to put in how fitzgerald uses the color white when describing her. it gives an innocent feeling when in reality it's the total opposite. also how she is greedy and that's why she's with tom, for the benefits of being wealthy. and i want to write another thing on her and gatsby. i dont know how to make a general thesis statement that is real good. so if you could help i'd appreciate it thanks! (link)
Hm...one other thing to think about - not that you don't have enough! - is that people sometimes feel that Gatsby is America.
Maybe something about how Daisy is described as white because she seems to innocent and pure - like America - but it's just a mask to hide her real self.
or how Daisy is seeking a better life through tom, just as people come to america seeking a better life but there's nothing that says anyone has to gain it honestly. Even the most innocent of people, like Daisy, can want and seek a better life through not-so-innocent means.

the flower daisies are most commonly white as well. not sure it's a helpful note, but knowing classic writers, there is probably some play on that.

hopefully some of that helped. apologies for not getting to the question sooner.

hey i'm doing a final paper about the great gatsby. does anyone know of a good thesis sentence about daisy? i have to do a character study of only daisy and i can't think of a good hook. thanks
(link)
Well, which do you want? You thesis and hook should be different...
Also, it'll be easier to help you if you give us your question that you're working with/what you're trying to prove.
I'd be happy to help, as I've read and written a paper on the book, but a little more explanation would be great. If you want to send a message to my inbox with your question for the paper I'll see if I can help.

I need newspaper cuttings related to the environment for an environmental studies project.I think newspapers from december,2004 would be important because that is when the Tsunami happened.Should I go to the newspaper's office to look for them?If they do not have them, where else can I get them from? (link)
Check with science teachers for starters - they save all kinds of stuff relating to the environment.
Also places like your city's historical society are good starters if you look through the newspaper archieves.
The internet is a wonderful resource so that you don't have to go running all over town. You can just go to newspaper sites like Star Tribune or whatever paper you can access and search the archieves there as well.

so, i have this geometry homework thingy... and you have to write what property you use for each step... the question is 5(x - 1) = 4x + 13.... and so the properties i used are distrobution, subtraction and addition.. but i don't know if it's right or not... i got the answer 18... so if any one could i help i would really appriciate it... thanx (link)
Hey, just a tip for figuring out if your answer is right:
when it's an equation where you're solving for variables, plug the answers you get for each variable back into the equation. So like in this case it would look like:

5(18-1) = 4(18) + 13
And then if the two sides equal the same thing, you've got the right answer! :D Just a tip for later.

i have a problem..i'm usually a pretty good student & we juss started new classes & i have a 73 in geometry!!! its because i had an 100% and failed the first test. on the quiz, i failed it!! idk whats even going on. i know the stuff but sometimes i mess up dumb things & when i take the test/quiz i blank out because the questions are worded differently than the worksheets. idk what to even do. i think a tutor might be pointless because i get the info. any advice??

thanks!! (link)
Hey, the best thing to do is talk to your teacher about it. Show that you get the material and that it's just testing that does you in. From what it sounds like, you probably have a mild case of test anxiety. It's normal to have anxiety in one area but not others; like you can do awesome on say an English test and then do really badly on a math test.
I had that problem, math tests just didn't agree with me. I talked with my teacher she had me try two things: 1) take one test in class and then take another at home and later that year had me start tests early, take a break for about 15 min and then go back to it and look over what I did and change anything I felt was wrong. Between the two methods, test scores went up. I'm not saying that your teacher will allow either of those, or will use either plan, but it might be worth asking if you could try something like that.
Also, if your teacher won't let you change anything, talk to your parents. Explain what's going on and ask them to talk to your teacher about it.
Good luck.

I have to write 5 full page essays on this book. I've read the book but it's way too hard for me to comprehend. Sparknotes doens't help because it just summarizes it. Does anyone know any other websites that will help me out with this book? (link)
http://www.gradesaver.com

However, both Spaknotes and gradesaver have both summaries and analysis of The Scarlet Letter and any other book they have notes on. The analysis is at the bottom of the page, after it summarizes the chapters.

Okay, my mom is practiclly forcing me to go to homecoming. I really don't want to go, because I don't have a date, and theres no guy I would feel comfortable going with. But the problem is that she already saved up all this money for a dress and accessories and shoes and she is looking at things like hairstylists. I don't know how to tell her that I just don't care and that I don't want to go. Help me please!! I rate high!

(link)
Well...if your school has a formal/semi-formal dance later in the year that you could go to with just a group of friends, one that you'd want to go to, maybe you could tell your mom that. Tell her you'd like to use the money for a dance you really do care about going to and looking nice.
It'll probably be hard for her to hear that, but I think if you really think about what you want to say, how you're going to say it, and if you don't blow up at her over it, then I think you can probably at least make her listen to you.
I guess if you really wanted to think ahead to something you might really want to spend it on you could say that you'd like to make your senior prom dance a really big and expensive thing.
Obviously, I don't know how your mother will react to any of this that you might choose to tell her, but I'm just throwing out suggestions.
:)

14 f, i'm in high school and i'm not that happy. sometimes i think its really fun but sometimes i just feel like crying. people say high school is supposed to be the funnest part of you life.... please help (link)
Freshman year huh? (Just based on age). Well, people told me that too, high school is supposed to be all fun and games. It's not, sad as it is. My freshman year, I was pretty much depressed 24-7. Of course, my teachers think their students have no life outside of school...Don't worry about it too much, only lucky, carefree people who've never been lonely at all, or never had ANYTHING bad happen to them have a great high school career. If you're at a new school, then that's probably adding to why you feel unhappy sometimes. Stick with your friends, you should be able to find SOMETHING good about school with them :-) If you can get time, suggest that you and your friends go out somewhere after school one night and just hang out, if you feel like it, complian about your problems to each other and see if you can find amusment in them (there's usually something funny you can find).
Anyway, don't listen to what people say about high school being great, it's like really loud music wont' hurt your ears if you listen to it all the time...it's not true. High school is has MISERY written all over it, in bright red, big capital letters. Best thing you can do with it is laugh at it. "If you can't change it, laugh at it"
Best of luck, hope the year gets better.

do u know any kind of site that i can use to post my poetry besides poetry.com?? -thx for all who help (link)
