Q: i have really thick wavy hair. its really pretty, but its too thick.
i like my hair in layers, and i have side bangs. i want it cut a little above my shoulders, not too short.
my question is, exactly how do the people cutting your hair make it thin? and can i still have layers?

hon, they would use thinning shears to thin it out and that in itself would give ya layers and yes...u can have layers too

Q: my hair has become so burnt from all the straigthening and highlights and product that ive put in it. i HAVETA strighten it now cause scrunching just poofs and its so discusting and frizzy. I dont know what to do with it! my mom says japeneeze straightening will just make it worse . frriizz stuff does not work. anything i can do or get done at the salon?

make sure you ALWAYS use a heat protector when using a blow dryer OR flatiron. The heat can damage your hair bad. My suggestion is get a real good shampoo and conditioner, give your haira little break ... like pull it up for a while or something, and condition the crap out of it!

Q: When I scrunch my hair, the mousse leaves my hair looking totally gelled and very sticky/dark. I tried Aussie Sprunch spray, but it still leaves my hair looking plastered together! Do you know of any products and or tips to keeping my hair natural looking but wavy?

use less. You might be using too much. Try some spray gel. if your using mousse you should be using a VERY little bit to be honest.

Q: I bought my friend a shirt from American Eagle for Christmas. I bought it 2 days after Thanksgiving, so it was quite some time ago. I went to put it in the box yesterday and realized that the ink squirty thing is still on it. I don't know how they missed it and I don't know how I got out of the store with it still on...

Anyway, I threw away the receipt not too long after getting it and I've misplaced the gift receipt. I know that if I still had the receipt I could bring the shirt back and they would take off the ink thing, but will they still do it without a receipt? If not what am I supposed to do? It was a $30 shirt and I'm not made of money to go get her another...

I was just wondering if anyone here works at AE or has had to do this there or some other place and knows whether or not they can do it without a receipt. I paid with cash if that matters...

Well, there isn't much you can do sadly. I work at a store kinda similar and we get this same thing. You need the reciept. Try calling the store and explaining the situation. Tell them you tossed the reciept b/c you knew it would fit and wouldn't be returned...but you didn't know it had the ink tag still on it. Maybe they will tell you to bring it in and they will remove it ... or they can tell you what to do about it.

well i dont see how it is possible to get a nice curl out of something meant to make yourhair straight. But, you can get it to flip out the ends, just run it through your hair but at the end, slow down and roll it outward. takes some time to get the hang of.

hm that limits style ideas alot ... lol. mess around with bobby pins, you can buy 100 ofthem cheaper than a bottle of soda at the dollar stores! lol. just kind of play around with twisties in different directions. Play around with pining your hair in different ways. mess around with crimping different pieces and leaving others straight. with out a curling iron i am a little bit at a loss b/c i use a curling iron all the time. um, maybe borrow onefrom a friend or relative. Then try doing things like pulling your hair into a ponytail, curling it all, and pinning around in neat ways. Just play. Oh and add some glitter at the end for a cool effect. (hint: spray the hair with hairspray, but in the glitter, then spray with hairspray again ... the glitter will stay better!) hope this gives you some ideas :D

Q: Ok, well I'm looking for some cute hairstyles for a night out, except I have pretty ordinary hair. It's natural on top, and blonde underneath. I have two layers, and the longest layer goes about halfway down my boob, so I don't have short hair but it isn't that long either.

The only 'tools' I have is a hairdryer, straightener and crimper. I have a lot of hair ties, a few clips but I can get some more.

Even just some links would be nice, thanks a lot in advance :P

try doing twisties on the front half, to the top of your head. leave out your bangs or some in the front. crimp the back. if you can access a curling iron, curl the back. i have more ideas...send me one in my inbox if ya wanna know em cuz i need to know if you have access to a curling iron.

your period wont affect hair color.

as well as the going from black to brown/blonde...you have to bleach. straight up. i am in beauty school right now and i just did something similar. go to a salon for that kind of thing. it will be expensive and i can't guarantee your hair will be in good shape afterwords. good luck. any other hair questions let me know

i have heard that it does clear up your acne. but it does so by drying up your skin. the more you use it the dryer your skin gets. after long use your skin is shot basically. I go to beauty school and one of my teachers is a licensed in esthetics (skin stuff) and says that is one of the worst things to use.

hate to break it to you but to go from dark brown to blonde you have to bleach your hair. You can not do anyhting like that for one day. Sorry

Q: ok naturally i have dark brown hair but right now its dyed black my hair is really short and i want to dye it bleach blond without it turning orange how can i do this and don't say go to a salon or whatever cause i'm not going to pay money for someone to put hair dye in my hair and can you recommend brands of dye

first let me just say your hair will be fried when you are done weather you go to a salon or do it at home. Trust me, i am in the field. going from black to blonde is almost impossible with out your hair being in horrid shape. trust me.

you'll have to be carefull using a home bleaching kit. if you get it on your roots while it is on the rest your roots will be more blonde than the rest. its a very sensitive thing and in my opinion best left to professionals.

but if you insist on doing it yourself...clairol herbal essences is probably my choice. just be careful and watch how your hair is feeling. if it feels mushy at all GET THE BLEACH OFF! trust me :D.

dont get it on your scalp or it will burn like hell. you might have to bleach it up twice ... depending on how fast your hair lifts. dont leave it on longer than an hour.

if it is orange than you need to put a color that is called "ash" like "light ash blonde" to neutralize it out.

Those are some tips from a professional. I hope it works for ya. if ya need anything else that involves hair let me know i will be more than willing to help you.

hot rollers. wrap your hair around those flexible rods and sleep with them in (put htem in wheen your hair is wet) and then just spritz and go. it should work

coloring your hair will damage it. Depening on the brand and the color depends on how much. For example bleaching to get blonde ... KILLER! professional color is much better than box color. if you go to a salon you can get semi or demi permanent and that it not very damaging andit will fade out to the color you have underneath completly. No nasty fading. it fades in like a month or two and it fades naturally. Thats just a professional-in-training's opinion :D

well they are a little more expensive but these are the best two i have ever used.

Mary Kay Waterproof Mascara.

on an oval face layers would look amazing...and side bangs could look good depending on how thick and how they are done. if you tell me more about your hair (is it thick, is it long or short that kinda stuff) i could help you out more

Q: Okay, I need advice on what kind of haircut I should get... But I have a few problems.

Problem 1: My hairline. It's too high up on my forehead. And it's like a square. It starts three inches above my eyebrows and juts out beyond my temples. I feel like I HAVE to have some sort of bangs. It's embarassing to pull it all back because it's such a wierd shape and not flattering at all.

Problem 2: Curly girl. I have tight S-shaped curls, but the hair is so fine that it weighs itself down. I never get any volume at the root.

I am a teen and my hair is dishwater blonde, shoulder length. Young face... I'd like something not too short, but that makes me look more mature... and is not too hard to keep up. Help?

try sideswept bangs. They can blend in with the rest of your hair and will cover your forehead so you dont have to feel weird. as for the cut itself...the stylist (if hse is a true professional) will help you pick a style that will fit you best. As a some-what professional (student still in beauty school) i would just add layers, it will help your curls lay better. if i was you i wouldnt let them use a razor on it.

Q: After I go swimming my hair is just a mess. Its past my shoulders and naturally wavy. After I go swimming, my friends and I usually meet up with people and go out so I'm always going out and my hair looks terrible. I have side bangs, so they curl up and look funny as well, so just putting my hair up in a ponytail never works.

Does anyone know any products or tricks I can use to somehow make my hair look presentable after swimming in a pool without washing my hair first? Thank you [:

put some gel in it and then braid it. do pigtail braids or have some one french braid it if you cna't do it yourself.

Q: Okay so I really want to dye my hair some crazy color (not your average color i.e. red, blonde, black, brown etc. Something more along the line of different colors i.e. blue, red (the color red not redhead), green, pink, etc.)
But I was wondering which (sp? I suck at spelling tonight and it just looks like I spelled which wrong..) color would look best on me?
