i run cross country & my shin started hurting today, but to where i can still walk and everything. its not that bad, but i cant afford to get a shin splint, so what can i do to keep it from becoming a shin splint? (link)
|
when they start hurting, use ice cups. all you do is take those dixi cups and freexe water in them.
when you want to use one, just roll it down and rub the ice up and down.
also, to stop them from hurting while you are running, tape them. i would talk to your trainer first before doing that though.
hope that helped!!!

this is for all of the volleyball players-
what do you wear under your spandex? my friend told me she has underwear spandex, like mini volleyball shorts but its underwear and you can't see any panty lines. any one know what this is called and where i can get them?
thanks (link)

to add on to what the other people said:
there are many kinds of underwear that you can wear, but you dont have to wear any at all. it would seem a little weird but thats theonly way really that you will be 100% sre that there are no lines.
also, its volleyball, no one will really care a whole lot if they can see lines or not.
hope that helped!!

Hey! Well before I made the volleyball team, people told me I was really good. Now that I'm on the team, I'm not doing so hott. Like my serves aren't consistent and I just feel like people are doubting my skills now. I don't know. I't made me really sad and dissappointed. What do you think I should do to gain more confidence and how to become a better player?
Thanks (link)

thats what pracdtice is for :) and dont worry!!! its a new team, and a new season, so you probably arnt used to playing with them and you could judt be a little rusty. just keep on pracicing!!! maybe you could get some friends together and play some games to help you out?
make sure to always give your best, even if you arnt playing well. cuz dont worry, we all have our bad days.
you could also ask you coach for some tips too.
dont worry youll get into the groove of the game!!

do you wear underwear under your spandex? I am starting volleyball soon and most of my friends just don't wear anything, but I want another persons point of view. thanks (link)
|
yes i do. it really depends on your comfort level. try going one time with and one time without and see wich you perfer.
i wear it cuz it feels better and i dont get wegies too often.
the only down side to this is, depending on what kind of underwear you wear, you might be able to see the outside lines of you underwear.
like i said, do what you want to do.
hope that helped!!!

I'm okay at volley ball but not perfect at it so I need some serious tips. (link)
|
instead of giving you tips on how to do stuff, im going to give you little excersizes that will help become beter.
when you hit, you are supposed to snap your hand down, so it dosnt go out. here is a fun thing to do to help with that:
take a volleyball and find a wall that there is nothing the ball could fly up against and break something (preferably outside or in a gym) and hit the ball down to the ground at an angle so it goes the opposite direction, hits the wall, and flys back at you. when it is comeing back at you, hit is to the ground again, repeating what i just said. make sure to snap (bring your hand down really fast) while you are hitting it.
to get better at passing, here are some drills that will make you quicker, and better at passing. my team calls this the passing series. you have to do this with a partner, and they dont need to be able to to volleyball at all:
the first series is have you partner toss the ball to you, and you pass it back. do this 10 times. then they throw it off to the sides of you, so you have to shuffle to get it (10x). next is short, long. they throw it really short, and you have to run and get it. then right after you pass it to them, they throw it really long, so you have to run back and pass it to them (10x each). after, they toss it to you, and you pass it to yourself, then to them (10x) next, they throw it to you and you pass it to them. after you pass, you touch the ground with both hands (10x). after that, you pass it to them again, but this time, you have to lay on the ground and come back up to pass, lay on the ground, come back up to pass etc. (10x)
to get your hand postition for setting right, go up close to a wall, and set to it really quick. concentrate on your hands and how you are setting.
for your toss in serving, go up against a wall, about 1 foot away, and toss the ball and hit it against the wall. really focus on your toss.
here is a website that will really help

hope that helped and good luck!! :-D

what do you need to play volleyball? im thirteen, and im thinking of joining a travel team. is that good? or should i join a rec one.. though theres not alot of them around. like.. what do you need to buy to wear? like i see some like shin pad thing people wear on their feet. and what type of clothing? does it have to be loose like in bball or soccer or can you wear like cute semi-tight things? which is better? or is it just by choice?
can i wear sports tape on my braids? im black, but they look cute. i think its sports tape.. like some people wear them as headbands and they're usually bright colors that are shiny or sparkly. where do you even buy them from?
is there like a volleyball store i can go to get these equipment? also, i have like sneakers.. not the flat kinds, the ones with a little arch. are there like special shoes for vball or i can just wear any sneaker?
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!! (link)

okay this is what i wear:
i put it up in a pony tail with the sports tape (and yes you can wear that stuff) they for playing games i waer tight jerseys, but for practice, i just wear a baggy t-shirt. I wear tight spandex, but soffes are fine too. The knee pad are the "shin pads" that you can wear one your knees or below, so when you go on the ground they slide up. if you are doing a really competetive league, you can wear active ankles, so you dont roll your ankel when you are jumping. I wear high socks under my knee pads and active ankels. there are certian kind of volleyball shoes that you can get, but they are not required.
you can find all of this stuff at dicks or sports athority.
if you are just starting out with volleyball, then i would suggest a rec league to learn the game, then you can go out for a travel team.
hope that helped!!!:-D

okay well in gym we're doing volleyball. i'm pretty good at serving & bumping but i can't set it at all. i always hit it on like my whole finger, not just the tips. i don't know how to fix it & i have practiced alot. i keep my fingers how they are supposed to be but i can't get it. my team is counting on me & i can't do it. what can i do? (link)
|
just to add of of the other one. when you set, dont have flat hands, make sure they are cupped a little when the ball is comming at you. when the ball it in your hands push your fingers out and so they are flat, along with using your legs, arm etc. also, i have played volleyball for 4 years now, and on my team, i cannot set really well either. that is why u have positions. i am a middle hitter, so i do not need to set.
hope that helped:-D

i think that it is great that you are going after the ball! u should feel ashamed. when you try out for the high school league, that is what they want to see. make sure to yell MINE MINE MINE!!! if people start yelling at you, tell them that you didnt hear them call it. also, there are no real spots in volleyball. sure, there are base positions, but everyone should be moving around. dont let it bother you
