What are some clothing ideas for hot weather? My new job will require me to dress pretty modestly for safety reasons (working with chemicals and such) and it's going to be down south where it's summer pretty much all the time. I've been living north for a long long time and I honestly have no idea how to change all of my clothes to suit the hot weather while still wearing full sleeves or pants. I have started trying to buy clothes with lighter materials but I would love some advice. What are some articles of clothes you wear that help keep you cool without wearing shorts and a tank top. Links would be welcome. I just need ideas for how to shop.
Thanks! (link)

Oh this is actually a great question for me because im in the middle of changing my wardrobe to fit summer and hot weather!
You ARE right on track with the lighter materials and fabrics. What you want is something that breathes and its light at the same time but is modest am i right?
what you could try is some nice leggings and a short dress that fit still flatter your body but not show anything. then you can put a nice black wide belt around your waist to focus the attention on the smallest part of your waist and give you more of an hour glass figure (and thats a tip for no matter what body type you are) ; )
you can also still do long light cottony, flowing dresses that end at your ankles, it CAN be strapped as long as you wear a long sleeved shrug over it. or a jean jacket that you feel breathes.
Alot of places like forever 21 are changing their clothes right now to fit spring and summer, so they will have long flowy skirts and dresses, and if you see a shorter one you like, you can put leggings under it so still flatter you, yet keep everything covered, and its tighter fitting enough that it will cling to you so you dont get chemicals on your legs. then you can pair that with some simple black flats that go with everything.
long flowy cotton blend pants are great right now for the heat, yet will keep things covered.
the one thing about most of these clothing choices though is that you cant put them in the dryer or they could shrink. so i would just not risk it and wash your new colors, warm in the washer and then hang dryer them. the colors will last longer anyway if you hang dry and dont put them in the dryer. ((plus its warm weather so the summery clothes will tend to dry faster, because of the type of material and the heat))
good luck ; )

I've actually recently bought a white jean jacket and it's really nice. One thing I want to know: I haven't worn leggings in forever (I personally like jeans), but won't they be really hot in hot cali weather? Is it common do you think for people to wear that? I don't want to look out of place haha
