ok so i was at a party that got busted and I ran away, the thing is they have a list of everyone who was there, is it against any rules/laws to run away from cops at a party? will i get in any trouble? btw im 16 years old (link)
It is illegal to run away from the police if they are trying to detain you. For instance, if they shout "Stop! Police!" and you keep running, then that is illegal.

However, if you see police coming and make a hasty exit, then that is NOT illegal in and of itself. It is suspicious activity, though, and that might give them cause to follow up on you later if they're doing an investigation.

The list with your name on it is not proof you were there, and even if it were, it's certainly not evidence that you were doing anything illegal. The police know that and unless they have a really good reason to track you down, they're not going to go through the trouble of finding witnesses or otherwise building a case against you. If you weren't doing anything more serious than underage drinking, you probably don't have anything to worry about from the police.

Needless to say, though, it was pretty risky behavior. Running from the police carries the risk of getting caught, in which case you can kiss goodbye any chance of leniency or getting off with a warning. Cooperating with the cops is almost always your best bet. They don't generally get harsh with 16-year-old kids unless you give them a reason to.
