The only way I know to completely give up a person you adore is this:
"Immature love is wanting the other person to be happy only with you. Mature love is wanting the other person to be happy."
"If you love someone, set them free."
MY STORY:
S. was the first person I think I've ever loved. It lasted about six months, then our parents effectively kept us apart. I could have kept in contact, but because I knew it would make things harder for S., I stayed away- not due to lack of love, but out of respect.
If you care, really care about this person, enough that you want them to stick around, back off a little. Go do something else for awhile. Slowly wean yourself off. Cut out an hour a day of him, until you only have about an hour of "you" time with him left. If that's still too much, alternate days. Then maybe twice a week.
In the time you spent with him, do something productive, such as studying.

He wants me completly gone...now...he doesn't know what he want and feels like he needs to figure it out. That is why it is so hard. he has been the person i have gone to for 2 and half years with all my problems and now i can't and I am having a huge issue with it.
