How come in the bible an angel comes to josef and tells him that mary will be giving birth to a son called Immanuel - but then he ended up being named Jesus?

Immanuel means "God with us". The angel was saying that the child was the promised messiah; God in the flesh.

Now, 3 hours after I first rated you and read your advice, I've read through your column and noticed you've helped me several times before with my christian questions and I wanted to thank you deeply for that. You are all I need on this site, and I hope you don't mind me coming back to you for more answers. Also, do you JUST answer christian questions - or would you be OK with giving me your input on love-life questions? (I've never been satisfied with the answers I get on those since I know they are not based on Gods Word, and often tempt me into doing the wrong thing) Thank you SO much. Really.
