In the Perks of Being a Wallflower, the main character mentions going to see Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I don't get it. He and his friends dress up and go watch it in the theater? Can anyone help clarify this?

Rocky horror picture show has cult like influence over teens.

People dress up to go see it, they also interact with the actors. During the show, there are certain times when they shout certain things after a certain actor says something. Why do they do those things? It's become part of the culture.

if you're still confused, don't worry about it too much. Although the Perks of Being a Wallflower mentions the rocky horror picture show a lot, it's not that important to the plot.

Keep on reading the book though, it's fucking good.
