Well, I finally decided to get off my butt and do something about my weight. I've always been fairly active, but since moving in with my boyfriend, I've gone up to around 200 pounds.

So I started the South Beach diet. I'm on my second day.

Thing is, I haven't been having cravings for food, but I have had some problems.

- Depression/Irritability
- Constant hunger
- Exhaustion
- Weakness

Is this normal (for the diet)? I'm ready to quit, if this continues.

Anyone else tried it and had the same sort of experience? Or have any words of encouragement?

Thanks!

Depression could possibly be causes because you have some type of emotional attachment to food.

other than that, your symptoms sound pretty normal. Expect to lose your ability to think critically and to pay attention soon.

South beach diet is retarded.

If you want to lose weight,

DONT
CUT
CARBS

Eat healthy, drink a lot of water, and exercise.

(Rating: 5) I'm a black belt in karate... I don't think my exercise habits are the issue.

I've been doing the eating healthy thing for years... and it's not helping! Genetic predisposition.

I appreciate the help, though.
