I'm 21 and I do have crooked teeth. I've had crooked teeth for quite sometime now. It's something that runs more so on my dad's side of the family so I may have the gene. Anyways, I think I may need braces and am kinda nervous about wearing them. Could someone who has had braces tell me what I would probabily need to expect and how it was with you having braces?

Well.. Ive had braces 3 times. I can tell you that they arent much fun.. but they arent horrible either. They will hurt at first for a few days, so just take advil. Depending on how bad your teeth are will determine how long you have them on. You will probably have to go in for check ups about every 4-6 weeks. My braces went good for me.. i had an under bite so i got braces in 4th grade..got them off and then the under bite came back and i got them back on in 5th grade.. then i got them off again in 6th grade. and i got them back on after 8th grade so i could just straighten them. i just recently got them off in july. Getting them off will hurt a little bit after for a few days.. so take advil/tylenol. You tongue will be so used to rubbing on the braces that when you get them off your teeth will feel awesome. you might get like canker sores in your mouth from the braces rubbing. they will give you wax for that. i think thats basically it.. if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
