Is it weird that I'm really attached to someone I met in a chat room? He's 5 years older than me, I have never seen him in real life, I've talked to him on the phone and wrote him a letter once, we've talked on the mic, yahoo messenger, and he got on his cam a lot (rated G mind you). But I feel like I'm really close to for the big reason of him knowing a great deal about me. In a good way that is. I could tell him everything without the fear of losing him and now he's my only support that's there. But I haven't been able to talk to him for a long time and he finally go on yesterday and I was talking to him but he seemed really tired. But it was like he didn't care about me at all. Maybe I'm being overdramatic. But yeah, what is your view on this?
Alright well, relationships you never see each other in means that the guy you're talking to could be lying about everything. So don't cancel out everything else in your life for him. Because then, he will be the only one you can turn to at one point (if you ruin other relationships such as family etc.) and he may turn on you then. For all you know, he could be an 80yr old internet predator or he could be a really nice guy around your age in the 5-yr range. But to look out for some things predators do, is...
1) They slowly lie about their age. First they'll be like, "Oh cool I'm that age too!" and then a week later they'll say "Well it was my birthday now I'm older" and little by little they will get to the part where they lie over and over and say "Well I actually lied about that. sorry, im actually (however old they are) continuously.
2) They go on websites you wouldn't expect them to go on, such as childrens' sites.
3) They will want to meet you somewhere but if they do bring someone with you.
...And finally,
yes it is perfectly normal to feel attached to someone you talk to online. But how long have you been talking to him? Can you REALLY trust him?

(Rating: 5) Sorry, I didn't clarify so well. I didn't mean like I love him like a crush. Just like a brother or a bff that's always there for me. And he truely is 19. He's gotten on his cam and I really dbout that a 80year can pull off something to make himself look 19..I've talked to him for over a year and when he went to culinary school, he rarely got on and so our little friendship suffered there a little. and I completely trust him because he really is the ONLY one that cared about my problems.
