Leave him out of any conversations with your mom about the party. Just tell her you want to go, and leave it at that, don't tell her it's because of him. She's probably not comfortable with your feelings for him and that's typical, a lot of parents aren't, so play it down and tell her you're just friends, there's no reason she needs to know much more.

I've been in the advice column over five years now so I think I've pretty much heard it all... the love, the hate, the random insanity. I don't take it too seriously, so I'm not always giving the best advice, but my column is fun to read!
