Hi everyone... I've got a Psychology degree so I like to think that i know a bit about how people think and why they do the things they do- maybe i don't know a thing, make up your own minds! Also i work with a youth group of girls aged 10-14 so that helps too! Anyway ask me anything no problem too big or too small and I'll do my best...

Hey,
I have been asked to consider what subjects I want to do at A Level next year for college. I am thinking about English Language (I have already completed the GCSE and am currently doing the AS level and I enjoy this a lot), perhaps English Lit, Psychology and Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. I'm also doing Childcare as I want to be a nanny. Has anyone done any of these subjects? What are they like? And do you think they'll be relevant to being a Nanny or will look good on my CV? Have you got any subjects to suggest that were a lot of fun or would be relevant? Because I want to have some fun as well as do well :)
Thanks, and please only answer if you are English as people from other countries won't understand our crazy messed up education system :P (link)

I've done A levels in English Language and Psychology and i really enjoyed them. English always looks good on your cv whatever you want to do with your career as it's a curriculum subject. Psychology was really good (I went on to do a degree in it!) and is certainly relevant to being a nanny- in fact most courses will have a section about child psychology within them. You probably don't want to do both english lang and english lit at A level as these are really similar and you don't want your cv to look too samey- you want it to look as varied as possible. I also did an AS level in sociology which was really great and i think that this would really come in handy if you want to work as a nanny as it explores issues within the family. Your idea of philosophy and ethics is also a good one as this would explore ethical issues surrounding childcare, the family and religion so its all relevant! Good luck with everything! (p.s it's nice to give advice to someone english for once!!!)
