advice

Hi,
My school doesn't do work experience but I need to do a two week work experience placement to get onto the childcare course I would like to study. So, I'm trying to organise it myself and writing letters to all the nurseries in my area asking if they can help me.

My questions are:
*Do you think they would prefer handwritten or typed letters? (My handwriting is neat)
*What goes after 'yours' when you don't know the name of the person you are writing to?
*I am studying for 21 GCSEs. Do you think I should mention this or would it make me sound like I'm showing off?
*Should I mention any of my GCSEs? For example, I know that I have to gain good qualifications in English to be a Nursery Nurse, so should I mention that I'm studying English?

Oh, and I've been to Connexions, if anyone was going to suggest them to me, and they were absolutely useless, so I'm doing this myself.

Thanks!

1) i have written many letters in my life, and you know what? handwritten is actually the best, that way they know how you are, hardworking, i mean if you are willing enough to write a handwritten letter, probably multiple times, i would definatly look at you atleast twice...
2) i would also say "thank you for your time" or even just "Thank you" instead of ending it yours, when you end it yours, its like your talking to a friend, in my opinion, ending it with somthing more official will also get you brownie points.
3) bragging? whats bragging? brag-n-Arrogant or boastful speech or manner
boast-n-A source of pride ( i looked these up) my point is, just because you put it in there, its not bragging, and even if it was, look at both the defanitions again.....is pride really a bad thing? not last time i checked, so even if you are "bragging" it is also called "informing" and telling them what hard work you have put into for being what will probably be, and outstanding nurse! Good luck, i hope ive helped!
