Lice is going around my school. What can I do to prevent getting it and how long to lice live when they aren't in hair? (link)

The adult lice can't live very long without a host... maybe a day. However, the nits (eggs) can live up to a week before they hatch and need a host.
Some tips...
- Wear your hair up! The most imporatnt part is to keep your hair away from chair backs, other people, etc.
- Do not share brushes, combs, or anything that goes in or near your hair. Keep away from other peoples clothing, hats, and towels.
- Use Tea Tree Oil shampoo. Studies show that lice do not like the minty smell of this shampoo.
- You can buy a spray by Nix (other brands make it too) that is for spraying down furniture, bedding, and cars. It will deter and kill lice.
Also, if your heads starts feeling uncontrollably itchy, get a small toothed lice comb and check your hair immediately. It's easier to get rid of the sooner you catch it.

so for homecoming i bought this really cute dress and a bought 2 pairs of shoes. one goes perfectly with the dress but is 3 in!!! the other is pretty cute but doesnt go as well. its shorter about a 2in. the thing is im going with a guy that about my height((without heels)) and i think i'll feel self concious about my height around him and other people too if i wear those 3in way cute shoes. i know that the shoes only stay on your feet for like pics and thats it...but still i fell totally tall in the 3in ones and not as tall in the 2in. which should i go with?

I would go with the shorter ones that you feel more comfortable in. You don't want to be soaring over your date and the 3" heels could be hard to dance in. Also, like you said, you usually don't keep the shoes on the whole time and it's pretty dark at a dance so no one will even notice. If you really love the 3" shoes, you could wear them before you go for some pictures and what not. You could even bring them along and leave them somewhere like the car so you can wear them for some pictures if you want.

As a reformed nail biter, I can give you several tips...
- Get a good home manicure set. I finally realized that the main reason I bit my nails is because they weren't smooth. If you file and buff your nails, you will not only be less tempted to bite, but also be less able because they are stronger. I got a Cegal set off ebay and the buffer is the most amazing product ever. I've bought it for other people and they love it too. - Polish your nails. They actually make nail polish that strengthens your nails and makes them grow faster. They even make polish that tastes bad so you won't want your fingers in your mouth. Not only that, but it's harder to chew through the polish. I also found that I would pick at the polish instead of my nails.
- If all else fails, get some fake nails. They will allow your real nails to grow while they protect them. You won't be able to chew through those!
- Another tip to make your nails grow faster is a good diet. Make sure you are getting enough calcium and magnesium because these are the main components of your nails. I've even read studies that show many people have a subconscious desire to bite their nails because their body is low on calcium and magnesium and needs them back. Our mind somehow knows that we can get this material from our nails.
- Don't get discouraged or give up. It takes time to repair a life time of nail-biting, but it's so worth it in the end!

so im kind of spastic with powerpoint and does anyone know how to get a song from itunes on a powerpoint presentation? when i tried to do the "insert sounds" thing it said that the file couldnt be put on the powerpoint.
oh and when i do that how do i link the music to the presentaiton so it stays on when i present it on another computer??

I know that in order to add a song to a powerpoint, the file has to be in mp3 or WAV format. When you download from iTunes, the songs are protected mp4s. You can change them to mp3s but it isn't the easiest thing to do and you need certain software. Plus, even if you change them into mp3s, you can't embed them. You can only embed WAVs (so they stay in the powerpoint file no matter where you show it). I think you're best bet is to search for WAvs. I could go on, but I think this article does a better job explaining it than I ever could...

Photoshop CS2 and CS3 are the newest versions so I'd say they are the best, but since you are new to this I would not recommend buying one of those. Photoshop can cost almost $700... no joking. It's a little ridiculous! If you google "Photoshop trial version" you can download a free version of it that will last for a couple weeks. Then you can decide if you like it enough to actually buy it (or just keep downloading trials). You could get an older version for cheaper. Also, if you google "Photoshop tutorials" you can get some free lessons on how to do all the cool effects you want.

A Cat - You can get ears and a tail for pretty cheap at a costume store. Paint some cute whiskers on your face.

how come its so suggestive? i mean i love the songs on the CD by the Fratellis.. but like I haven't bought the CD yet, and I want to, but I also kinda don't.. cause I'm not a lesbian and the cover is pretty suggestive... so I dont want people to think I am from the CD's cover. what made the fratellis put that as their cover anyways? thanks. The cover is actually much less suggestive than many covers today. They look like pin-up girls from the 1940s and 50s. The artist may be alluding to that. Besides, if you look at their other album covers, they have similar illustrations on them. The band is made up of three guys so it's pretty easy to imagine why they would want to put pretty girls on the cover.
I don't think you should let the album cover stop you from buying the cd. No one is going to think you are gay just because of that and if they do they are stupid and close-minded. Enjoy the music for what it is and if the cover bothers you then take it out and keep the cd in a different case.

My girlfriend is in band, it's her life. I was really hoping to make her a CD of Classical music (like intrumentals) of popular songs that she might have heard already.
I would be SOOOOOO grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, or give me a website of some sort to tell me where I can find classical music of hot modern songs.

I am 14 almost 15 and I'm a girl who just started high school this year ya a freshman and this kid mike I met him at my elementary school but only talked to him once so he decided to sit with me and my friends at lunch this year and I have decided I lke him, but I keep asking him who he likes and he says oh a couple people and you dont know them either so I dont think he likes me but at lunch he sits across from me and always laughs at my jokes and flirts with me I cant tell if he likes me or hes just being a guy?? I need some good advice!!!

I agree that you should stop asking him who he likes. Whether or not he likes you, it might make him feel uncomfortable. If he is shy, he's not going to come right out and say he likes you anyway.
You should hang out with him more outside of school so you can get to know each other better. Maybe invite him to do something with a group of friends... like pizza or bowling or something. That way neither or you will feel awkward. If that goes well and he shows signs of liking you back, then ask him to do something just the two of you... go to the movies or something. If he says yes, then he's probably interested and if he says no just keep him around as a good friend. You never know, he could always change his mind.

how do you keep your poms from not becoming dead and misshapen? Mine are all poofy and round now but the older girls with old poms have really wrinkly ugly small not round ones, and I dont want mine to look like them. Also, what is the differenece beetween pom poms, poms, and pom pons, if there is a difference? I'm a cheerleader if you can't tell, but I also wonder, how does colorguard use poms? I hear they use them in competition. Are theirs any different? (link)

Here are some tips to keep your poms looking good...
Don't leave them in hot places or direct sun.
Keep them in a ventilated bag. The air flow prevents them from having an odor. You can even place a dryer sheet inside the bag to keep your poms from smelling sweaty.
If poms get wet from rain, completely shake off excess water and then lay them out on a towel to dry overnight.
To fluff your poms use the pull-apart method...
Place pom in your lap with the baton handle parallel to your legs.
Find the staple and skip the first 10 strands because they will pull off.
Starting with about the 11th strand, pull one pom strand to the right and the next pom strand to the left. Firmly pull down as far as you can.
Continue pulling the pom strands, alternating left and right until you finish all the pom strands on one side.
NOTE: You can pull the strands in the opposite directions at the same time to go faster.
Turn pom over and repeat.
Periodically shake the pom hard to loosen strands and comb pom strands with fingers to help create the desired ball-shape.
NEVER CRINKLE YOUR POM STRANDS BY RUBBING YOUR HANDS TOGETHER. THIS MAKES YOUR POMS LOOK OLDER THAN THEY ARE.
Also, although many people call them Pom-poms, Pom-Pons are the correct term for these balls of fluff. Pom-pom is the word used when talking about clothing or decoration. Poms is just a shortened slang version, but they are all the same. Colorguard uses the same kind of pom in their routines and pretty much in the same way.

There are many factors to consider here... If your parents have joint custody and your mom agrees to let you move, it should be pretty simple and you probably won't need to go to court. However, if your mom has legal guardianship of you and doesn't want you to move with your dad, you might have to go to court to get her to let you. The good news is that most judges will take your preference into consideration... especially at your age. Basically, I think you need to talk to your parents and explain what you want to do. Talk to your dad first and have him talk to your mom with you if you think she will not like the idea. There might be some paperwork to do and things like that so the sooner you talk to them the better. If nothing else, just be glad that you will soon be 18 and can go where ever you want!

In order to get your songs from your iPod back onto your computer, you will have to download a program that allows you to do it because iTunes does not support this. Luckily there are a lot of free ones you can try like iPodRip. This page has a link to the iPodRip download and several other ones in case you have problems with that one.

Since the shirt is a solid color it would look really cute to pair it with pants with a pattern. You could get pin stripes or some other pattern that you like. You could also get some long beaded necklaces to jazz it up.

If you think your conditioner is making you break out you may want to try tea tree oil conditioner. It is less likely to make you break out because tea tree oil contains consituents called terpenoids, which have antiseptic and antifungal activity.
