hi, 15/m. i live in the uk. ii understand the different parties here, but what are the parties in the states? and what do they believe, like, what do they want to do exacly? ive heard of the republicans, and the democrats. are there any more? and how does the system work? thanks:) (link)

"Republican Party-rich people
Democrats-not so well off people(aka poor)"
That's a stereotype, but isn't true. I think you'll find that a huge percentage of American celebrities are Democrats.

hi, can someone tell me how the american schooling system works? here in England, theres are a couple different variations, but the city i live in, and surrounding areas, the system goes like this:
5 years old-start year 1 of primary school
11 years old-year 6. last year of primary school
12 years old-start year 7 of secondary school
16 years old- year 11. last year of secondary school.
after that you can go in to full, or part time work while going to college, which is optional, and free. college is usually for about 2+ years and you earn A levels here, aswell as other like a2, As etc.
then you can choose to go to university, for 2-5+ years. you pay for this, and do one subject. if you stay for 5+ years, i thing you get a PHD and become a doctor.
i think some parts of london have high schools and that, but was just wandering what the American schooling system is. thanks.

When Americans talk about "college", it is the same as your University. Most Americans don't graduate highschool (or your secondary school) until they are 18, so we don't have college in between highschool & university. Although, some people choose to go to a junior college, which basically just offers you the first two years of University, so I suppose that could be comparable to your college.
I was supposed to attend a British university this fall (but can't, due to not being able to afford the international tuition fees), & I think that England has made it so much more affordable for British students to have a University education than America has for us. We're usually charged somewhere between $10,000 & $40,000 (£5,000 & £20,000) for each year of schooling, which seems absolutely ridiculous compared to the low fees that British universities charge for British & EU students (although it's pretty much the same amount for International students).
For the most part, I don't feel that America's education system is very good, so in my opinion, England is superior in that aspect.

I need to get a job next summer and i was wondering how old you have to be to work there? Also my friend [that lives in a diff state from me] said that when she worked there, she would work on weekends and they gave you an extra 100$ on your pay check. I don't believe that, but if anyone works there, can you please tell me about your job at hollister? (link)
|
I used to work at Abercrombie, not Hollister, but I know that the Hollister kids had to be 17. I can't imagine they'd be paid double every weekend, since a lot of people ONLY work weekends, but I know at Abercrombie, we would get paid time-and-a-half if we worked a long overnight shift, or if we worked on a major holiday when the mall was open.

on the website, they have the new faces video. they have really cool music and me and my friends are making our own little version of a new faces video, but we don't know where to find that type of music. help? (link)
|
If you happen to be at the mall, you could go into Abercrombie & ask if you could see their playlist, too. I know when I used to work there, we kept the playlist behind the cash wrap so that we could learn the names of the songs so that we'd be able to answer questions about the music if a customer asked.

A few weeks ago I went to my college to clear my fees. I have a pell grant, and the woman that cleared my fees told me all I had to pay for is books, then apparently whatever money left over would be given to me. I was just wondering if this is true? I don't think they would just hand me the rest of the money.. If someone could explain to me what they do with the rest, that would be very helpful. Thanks! (link)
|
I'm not sure how Pell Grants work, but I know that for any other scholarship that you get, you DO get any extra money back to spend however you wish. For example, I had two full scholarships, which meant I was basically being paid the tuition rate to go to school, since I was only actually having to use one of the scholarships.

I'm going to be a high school sophomore in the fall, and I'm planning on taking the PSAT this year.
I know you can take the SAT as many times as you want, but the score is recorded each time.
Is it the same for the PSAT? Is the score recorded? (link)
|
When I took the PSAT, it was more as just a prep for the SAT. The score didn't matter, it just let you know what areas you needed work in.

okay like i'm not really that photogenic and i realllyyy like super badly want to be. is there any ways to like make yourself photogenic? any tips?
i hate it becasue when ever people are like lets take pictures i never want to because they always come out weird. i don't think i'm like really ugly or anything but i'd like to take good pictures.
=] thanks so much =] (link)

Stand in front of a mirror and practice various poses and facial expressions. Try to portray different emotions, pretend you're doing different things. Basically, just get comfortable with the way your face/body looks and the way it feels while you're making it look that way, so that when you're in front of a camera instead of a mirror, you'll know how to look the way you want. Knowing how to control your expressions and body language is really the key to taking a good picture.

I was in Hot Topic today, and I heard a song that I really liked. It said something about "hollywood at night."
Like I said, it was playing in Hot Topic and a guy was singing it.
Anybody know?
I checked google and didn't find anything =[ (link)
|
The song is "Please Please Please (Young Hollywood)" by Head Automatica. I believe before it was released, people were calling it "Tara Reid Is A Whore".

in the movie trainspotting are people speaking english or what? (link)
|
Yes, they're speaking English, but it's a lot of British slang and they have heavy accents.

what kind of things do you put on a ice cream sundae?

where can i find a fake chanel bag? thankss (link)
|
I realize that you're probably going to give me a horrible rating for this answer, but do you realize that fake designer bags are made in clandestine workshops by young, starving children who are basically treated like slaves? Buying their products supports the people who run these factories, which encourages their horrible behaviour towards the children. Not to mention the fact that buying and selling fake designer products is illegal. If you don't want to pay full price for a designer bag, just check ebay or something.

You answered my question about owning a horse earlier today, and i really liked your answer. You really seem to know your stuff, so I decided to ask you a few more questions=]
You said depending on what the horse is going to be doing, it may or may not need shoes. My horse is going to be for mainly western pleasure riding(trails and such). Would it be a good idea to put shoes on him, or is that not nessicary for trail horses?
I'll probably have a few more for you, but this is all i can think of at the moment.
thanks so much!
(link)
|
If the horse has really good feet, it probably won't need shoes for trail riding. You should consult your farrier about this, though. Some horses have brittle or sensitive feet, and almost always need shoes put on them. Breeds such as Mustangs, Norwegian Fjords, and Appaloosas are known for having really good feet, and normally don't need shoes. My gelding was really succeptable to thrush, and always needed shoes. Some horses only need shoes during certain times of the year. My friend shoes her horses in the spring & summer, but leaves them barefoot for fall & winter. Some people like to put shoes only on the front feet. It really depends on your individual horse, and your farrier and/or trainer (if you have one) should be able to advise you on this.

I'm dieingggg to get a horse. I've wanted one for just about my whole life. I know about all the responsibilities. I'm looking at a place to board that is 275 dollars a month, which includes
morning grain, daily turnout to hay and water (weather permitting),daily mucking of stall, evening turn to grain/hay and water, arena access, and trail access. Usually, does that include that barn buying the grain and all bedding materials? or is that an extra expense usually?
Also, what other expences a month can i expect and for what?
thanks so much!=] (link)
|
Yes, full boarding costs include the price of feed and bedding, and should include buckets for your horse's feed and water as well, although you should ask about that to make sure. However if your horse requires extra supplements in their feed (vitamins, joint supplements, daily wormer, etc), then you usually have to purchase those yourself. If your horse needs them, make sure you label them quite clearly with your horse's name & feeding instructions, otherwise they might forget to put them into the feed.
Horses need to have their feet trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks, and depending on the condition of your horse's feet and what you are doing with him, you might want to put shoes on him as well. A trim starts around $25, and shoes can cost anywhere from $50 to a few hundred.
Horses need to be wormed every 2 or 3 months. Most stables allow you to put your horse on their worming schedule so that you don't have to worry about doing it yourself, however you will probably have to pay for the wormer. Worming paste varies in price, but the good stuff is about $20.
Your horse will also need annual basic vaccinations for rabies, tetanus, equine influenza, and rhinomune, which will cost you around $95. Also, a yearly teeth floating is reccomended, which costs about $75.
You'll also want to set aside a few hundred dollars for misc. vet bills that may come up. You never know when your horse will cut himself on a fence, have an episode of colic, etc. My older horse needed $500 cortisone shots in his hocks every year to help relieve stiffness. You never know what may come up.
You'll also need to buy tack for your horse - winter blanket, fall blanket, halter, lead rope, saddle, stirrup leathers, stirrups, bridle, reins, bit, leg wraps, saddle pads, brushes, fly spray, etc. This will cost you several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the quality of the products that you buy.
If you will be taking lessons (which I HIGHLY recommend) or showing your horse, that will be a significant amount of money as well, from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
Also, make sure you visit the stable and take a tour before choosing where to keep your horse. Just because the price is attractive does not mean that it's the best place for your horse. Check the fencing, make sure the horses always have water available, look to make sure they seem content, have clean stalls, etc.
Feel free to ask if you ever have any more questions, I'd be glad to try to help!

what is the BEST website to find horse tack?? Please HELP ME!!!! (link)
|
I'm not sure which discipline you ride in, but if you ride english then I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing either Stubben or Courbette tack. Both are either German or Swiss made, and can literally last you a lifetime. My trainer swears by Stubben Sigfried saddles, and won't ride in anything else. I used to ride my horse in a old, well-used Stubben Imperator eventing saddle, and found it to be incredibly comfortable. It kept me secure, yet still let me move around if I needed to. Now I'm riding in a Courbette Fels Bach, which has a more padded seat than the Stubbens, so it's more comfortable for longer rides.
Obviously, they make more than just saddles as well - bridles, reins, martingales, bits, blankets, etc.
You can visit both companies' websites for information on where to purchase them.
For Stubben North America:
http://www.stubbennorthamerica.com
For Stubben UK:
www.stubbenuk.co.uk
Courbette:
http://www.courbette.com
I'm not going to lie, this tack is quite expensive if purchased brand new. However, if you can find a well-cared for used saddle, you can probably get a good deal - I got my Courbette for $265 on ebay. Make sure you know your horse's measurements before ordering a saddle off of a site like ebay though, as you usually can't return them, and it's not good for your horse to have an improperly fitting saddle.

how old do you have to be to work at a horse stable usually. i know it probably differs depending on the stable. (link)
|
It depends on what you're looking to do at the stable.
I know I started doing barn chores such as mucking stalls, feeding, and grooming when I was 10.
I started teaching lessons and training when I was 17.
I think experience plays a huge factor when it comes to being hired to work at a stable. If you can prove to them that you know what you're doing, there are stables out there that would probably be willing to give you a chance. Some stables are willing to take people with no experience, but be prepared to be doing the mucking out and cleaning types of chores.
|
I need some names for a horse stable. It's a jumping stable if that helps at all. Beautiful view, lots of trails, green field! :) Thanks! I do rate! (link)
|
Personally, I'd choose a name that means something special to you. For example, when my trainer purchased her stable, she named it after the dam of her favourite show horse (she was named Ashmore Somethingorother - I forget exactly what - so the stable was named Ashmore Equestrian Center). Having a meaningful name would be so much nicer, I think, than just picking a random name.

where can i play a a virtual horse stable game where i can own a stable and horses, things like that. something fun. it has to be free also. please dont just give me a link of a game you've never played before, i want something that you know if fun.
thanks!

I play a FANTASTIC game called Hunt & Jump Inc. It's automated, very professionally made, and uses real genetics to determine your horse's colour, breeding ability, and talents. Basic play is free, but if you want upgrades, say ability to get your stallions papered or purchase more stalls for your stable or have your horses branded with your stable brand or whatever, then they can be purchased for a very reasonable fee - you can even use your game money if you have enough if it, if you don't like the idea of spending real money.
I'm absolutely ADDICTED to this game!

Lately I have been extremely stressed out. I have been riding for about nine years. I own a horse, and I have competed all over the states, and canada. Usually summers are my busiest riding time. I look forward to spending my entire summer at the barn. Well this summer started out great, I was riding alot and having fun. But then things changed. There was drama at the barn and like people were gossiping all the time, and it just became really competetive. So for the past few weeks I haven't ridden at all. I have sadly outgrown my horse, and I think I have outgrown my teacher. But the area I live in, there isn't any coaches besides where I am. And my parents think I'm just quiting, and I don't want to quit because I love it. I just don't know what I can do to show them I don't want to quit. Or like what I can do period. I don't want to sell my horse, but I have outgrown her. And its so expensive.. Please help me.. (link)
|
What area do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? I find it hard to believe that there aren't ANY other stables nearby that you could go to, although you might have to be willing to travel a bit farther that you're used to in order to find a good stable. Look through the phonebook and do an internet search for other stables in your area, or talk to people at shows to see where and who they train with.
A good trainer should never be "outgrown" in just 9 years. I know that with my trainer, she was constantly taking lessons from other top trainers, so that she was constantly improving her skills. But if there's bad drama at the barn, and you don't like the things your trainer is teaching you, then you should move - there IS such thing as a bad barn and trainer. I would know, as I worked as an instructor for one briefly a year ago, and left because I was so disgusted with the methods that the head trainer wanted me to teach. A good trainer should also be able to assist you and give you good advice about selling and purchasing horses.
As far as your horse goes, I know you probably love him/her, but if you are advancing to a higher level of riding and your horse is just not skilled enough to progress with you, or you have gotten too big to effectively ride them, then they are only holding you back. I'm not sure which you meant when you said that you had outgrown them, as I don't know how big or how skilled your horse is. Sometimes people within your same barn might be looking to buy a horse, which would mean that you'd still be able to see the horse since it wouldn't actually be leaving the property. That might be an option for you.
Also, if owning your own horse has become too expensive, you could always look into trying to lease one. I have done that several times, and had a wonderful experience with it.
I'd be interested to know what level you are riding at as well.
Feel free to ask me any questions anytime! I have years worth of horse experience, so I'd be happy to help you.

I had someone tell me to get animation shop 3 and photo impact, but the free dosnload is not there, and I dontwant to be buying a lot of software that may or may not give the effect I am after. I use photoshop, it has all kinds of things you can do to your pictures, with different lighting, airbrushing, blending, brushes, fonts, etc. If you know anyone with photoshop, ask if you can borrow their installation cd, that way you wouldn't have to buy it.
