Cold water. But in the future I'd recommend placing a tarp down on your carpet if you think it's going to get stained, that way it'll stay nice and clean and you can roll up the whole mess in the tarp and throw it in the river without even dirtying your hands.

Q: Why do women whine about equality but still expect guys to pay for stuff and open doors and all that crap?

First off, we don't "whine" about equality, it's just something we kind of expect. We are requesting that you treat us like intellectual and emotional equals, pay us the same wages for our work as you would a man, punish criminals who commit crimes against us around the world, etc. I don't see how that's "whining". Now that I've said that, I don't think paying a check or opening a door is a sign that you don't see someone as your equal, it's just a sign that you care about someone and feel honored to spend time with them. Judging from the tone of your e-mail, you should feel very honored to spend time with any woman in a relationship context. If you ask someone out, you should pay for the date. After a few dates, if she wants to pay for your dinner or hold a door open for you, that's fine. I do that for my boyfriend. Sometimes he pays, sometimes I pay, the whole point is that someone always buys the other person dinner because we respect one another and want to make the other one feel special. Splitting checks just isn't nice.

Q: Dear Spacefem, There is an odd purple lump growing on the bottom of my foot. I don't know what it could be! It itches like crazy and I cant walk on it, cause if I put all of my weight on it, I pass out for hours at a time. Could this be bad? Should I see a doctor?

I don't know. Is it hairy? Noisy? Is more of a reddish-purple, blueish-purple, or greenish-purple? Does it look like any celebrity? There's a lot to a bump, you know.

Q: I'm very confused. I have major crushes with 3 guys. One I've known since second grade. two of the mentioned males are in eighth grade, the other in sixth. I'm in seventh. What do I do?

I think the best thing to do in these situations is nothing. All these "major crushes" mean that you're just not ready for any of them... if you pursuit anything you'll only make someone mad or hurt yourself. Be single for a while, it'll give you time to think things through.

Q: My boyfriend & I have lived together for two years & have sex atleast 4 times a week yet I still catch him masterbating atleast once or twice a week......is this normal?

When it comes to sex nothing is normal. If you're uncomfortable about it, you should talk to him.
I am pretty curious about why you have to "catch" him masturbating so often, sounds to me like he's just an exhibitionist. But what do I know.

Q: I met a guy in a chat room....We have a lot in common and a lot of the same interests. I am 15 and he is 37...he looks way younger. I have been hanging out with him after school and at the mall. I want to date him. I am very attracted to him and he is SO nice and sweet to me. He takes me to lunch, etc. Should I get involved with him even though we have a huge age difference? I don't think it makes a difference.

37? I hate to tell you this, but there is no healthy reason for a 37 year old to be interested in a 15 year old. Do NOT get involved. In fact, RUN.
Hanging out with people your own age is what's healthy.

I've been in the advice column over five years now so I think I've pretty much heard it all... the love, the hate, the random insanity. I don't take it too seriously, so I'm not always giving the best advice, but my column is fun to read!
I am a 23 year old electrical engineer, a feminist, a Christian. I don't know everything but I can sure pretend to.
Disclaimer: Now that I'm on advicenators I'm getting even more questions every day. It's fast and easy for me to answer them, yes, so at least I'm answering something now, but if your question contains the words "there's this guy that I like..." chances are I won't get around to it. I'm only answering interesting questions that I haven't answered before. Register at the site and ask everyone for advice if you must have an answer, because if people read my column and boring love advice was all they found, they'd never come back.
